Add support for LOOOOOOONGER sounds!

play sound [ 8] hours of relaxing music] until done

play [ 8] hours of [ (genre)] [ (sound effect)]

The reason that sounds can't be super long is because people could make Scratch record sounds, then leave the tab open and leave the computer.
Not only will this possibly crash the server, but it's just ridiculous to have a eight-hour sound.

This suggestion probably stems from Scratch's intolerance of audio longer than 2 minutes. I think that maybe 2-4 minutes is a reasonable length for a piece of audio, but most of the time audio longer than 2 minutes stops Scratch from saving. It doesn't necessarily mean that the OP wants 8-hour audio (but I do I agree that we don't need 8-hour audio).

Well, it seemed like they were suggesting that sounds be extended to 8 hours because of the blocks; quoting the OP:

Which is totally ridiculous.

However, if the OP was meaning to suggest them lengthening it by a few minutes, then that's more reasonable, and I support.

I've used audio longer than 2 minutes, and it saves for me.

Not to mention 8-hour music is over the limit.

Let's assume 8000Hz (in the audio) and 4 bits per sample (ADPCM compression used by Scratch), then it would need 109.86328125 megabytes, and the limit is 50MB. Not everyone knows how to workaround the limit.

I think the Scratch Team has better things to do than offer that kind of functionality. Moreover, even Youtube has trouble with videos over 5h. So why do that?

I want scratch to give the option to change the length of the sounds manually.

If your goal is to break Scratch, then that seems like a great way to do so. Otherwise, why would you want to play an 8-hour loop song?

If you want to you can set that as your Signature by scrolling to the bottom of the Discussion home page and clicking “Change Signature”

I think it would be nice if they just increased the limit by a few minutes, mostly because one of my favorite new grounds artists has a couple of songs that are about 5 minutes, and I would use them if scratch would let me save the project.

No support, this could allow abuse of scratch's servers. Currently scratch allows up to 10mb sounds. This is perfectly fine for most things and if you need longer sounds decrease the quality of the sound or split it.

i would like to add my music but it would not allow because of it is 2 minute long if scratch would pls make the time longer that would be appreciated.
