The Silmarillion is posthumously published book by J.R.R Tolkien(Edited by Christopher Tolkien). The Quenta Silmarillion details the history of the First Age from the creation of Arda to the final fate of the Silmarils that give the book it's name. Also contained in The Silmarillion is Ainulindalë: The music of the Ainur, and Akallabêth: The downfall of Númenor, which takes place in the Second Age.
