Remove cloud variables
Cloud variables are nice features, but they are not as useful as they used to be. Here are the restrictions set in place for using cloud variables:
- Cloud variables are only available to online full-Scratchers.
- Cloud variables can only store digits 0 to 9, and possibly the ‘-’ and ‘.’ characters.
- Cloud variables are limited to a length of 128 characters at maximum.
- Projects can have only 10 cloud variables at most.

Multiplayer and high scores With all these restrictions put in place, what is the point of even having cloud variables any more:D
The Scartch team should make them better insted of removing them

Remove cloud variables
Semi-support but instead of removing them:
- They could be available to New Scratchers
- They could have a limit of 50 letters/numbers
- They could support all supported Scratch letters, symbols, numbers, etc.
- Projects could have 20 cloud variables at most

What do you mean? It is good enough. I don't think any cloud variable would need 128 digits or letters in it. I do not think you'll need 10 cloud variables either.

No support. Scratch is an educational site, and despite the limitations on cloud variables they're quite useful for younger users learning to code as, despite them being basic, they give younger users an idea of how people can interact with the code they're running. I think the solution to the restrictions on could variables and the issues they're causing would be to improve them, not to remove them entirely.

Remove cloud variables
No support cloud variables are the only way to connect between different clients on a project they should be made better
first get nine cloud variables
then press make a variable button twice
click the cloud checkbox on both
name the variables
and click OK on both
- cloud variables should be able to store ASCII strings of any length (or at least up to 16 384 characters)
- the 10 variables is already not a hard limit
first get nine cloud variables
then press make a variable button twice
click the cloud checkbox on both
name the variables
and click OK on both

No support, they might be limited but they're still useful for things such as high scores

Remove cloud variables
While cloud variables are very restrictive, it's still useful for highscore and other stuff.
I believe the reasons why cloud variables character limit went down to 128 is because of easy-to-use cloud list engines projects. This resulted a lot of multiplayers projects to be broken, but however, the positive effect is that it reduce the possibility of chat room projects heavily.

Remove cloud variables
It would be unwise to remove cloud variables, as it would break millions of projects that already use them.
Also, it is possible to encode lists into numbers and store them in the cloud. It is harder to do this, which greatly reduces the potential for spam.

@red_king_cyclops Just don't use them… Cloud variables are not very good for education, since they do not teach databases very well.

New scratchers cannot use cloud variables. This is because cloud variables are saved on the scratch server, and letting everyone use them would waste space. Something that also makes cloud variables useless is that forkphorus doesn't supports them so you can only use them for simple projects that can run fast on scratch. For example my pen project (uploaded with my alternative account): https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/projects/407639455 It has (at least on my PC) an awful input lag without forkphorus.
But that's forkphorus' problem.

I wanted to use a highscore with a cloud variable (the only thing you can do with them).
