Scratch needs a built in dictionary
Page 6 no edit.
Anyway. Since 3.0, i think this would be a good extension, think of all it’s uses, and a random sentence generator would be easier. I also only half think definitions would work, they may take to long to censor and implement. It could be helpful for people learning how language works, to make better sentance generators.

Scratch needs a built in dictionary
Why have the volunteers create an entire dictionary from scratch? Our purpose is to translate Scratch, not catalog every word in existence. The Merriam-Webster has approx. 470,000 words, my language has like 5 translators. No one would want to do that. There probably are APIs for other languages, the problem with that would be connecting the app to a billion different APIs at once, which would probably make the editor or projects slower and not work offline. Why don’t they ask for volunteers who speak those languages? This is the only issue we can find, so it may take a while, and lots of bug reports. But this could be created.

I personally think: if it exists in other languages, it has to exist in Scratch, otherwise it is not necessary.

Scratch needs a built in dictionary
I don't think any languages have built-in dictionaries. This is what APIs are useful for, why compile a list of words when someone else has already done that? But since we can't make requests using Scratch, this is out of the question. That's why OP is suggesting a built-in extension. I personally think: if it exists in other languages, it has to exist in Scratch, otherwise it is not necessary.

I think it's a great idea, I started copying the Oxford Junior dictionary because it's shorter than the adult one and it's still taking way too long.

Same. No Support. Just create a list of words yourself and randomise them.
EDIT: Semi-Support, I still go by my old explanation, but this does have potential because it would take a long time to copy the whole dictionary.

You would need to have a LOT of free time to do so.It would take a while to copy the whole dictionary. Nobody I know would have time for that.Same. No Support. Just create a list of words yourself and randomise them.

I don't think you'd need to translate the entire dictionary for multiple languages to make this work; you can just use the 10,000 most common English words for instance, which has some nice variety but very few naughty words.

No support. Every word would be too hard.
However, even 10,000 words is still a lot, and I don't see how that would be useful, as PicoBoard actually got removed for that reason. Sorry, but no support.
(find definition () :: extension)
LOT of free time to do so. -snip-Yes, that is true. It would be hard for it to have -snip- You would need to have a every single word.
Yes, I kind of agree with that. It would be hard to define every word, even ones that no one knows (like nudiustertian, which Google doesn't even recognize). But a few I don't think you'd need to translate the entire dictionary for multiple languages to make this work; you can just use the 10,000 most common English words for instance, which has some nice variety but very few naughty words.ten thousand words would be good.

I agree to disagree with this suggestion. While this would help make hangman projects easier to make, there's a really good workaround: Just make a list called ‘dictionary’, and add whatever you want to the list. Add a few blocks here and there, and you're done.
What this means is, we don't really need a dictionary on Scratch, because we can just make a dictionary on Scratch (albeit excluding a few “choice words”, so to put it).

Oh, and I am just aiming for 1,500-2,000 words.
