Increasing the Cloud Variable Limit
Hi there,
I am currently working on a project called Cloud Clicker, and in Cloud Clicker anyone who is a Scratcher (not including New Scratchers and people who are logged out) can play the game together. To make this possible I used a few cloud variables. Currently I am implementing an Auto Mode which the points count ticks up automatically but each click to gain points is divided by 10 to start with. Players will be able to buy upgrades to lower this number. However, this leads us to a problem and the reason why I'm making this thread.
I have discovered that there can only be 10 cloud variables per project. I can only assume that this is one of those purposeful limitations for us to try and work around. But, cloud variables are cloud variables and need to be persistent throughout every single device that is on this project. Since I can't make anymore cloud variables, I won't be able to release Auto Mode. I mean, I could release it now but the gimmick as a whole would be incomplete without the ability to upgrade the amount of points gained per second while Auto Mode is on.
Scratch Team, if you are reading this, please increase the limit of cloud variables either now or for 3.0. Thanks!

I understand your frustration, though the ST will not remove the limit or increase it if there's not a creative idea which doesn't cost money, since a lot of cloud variables cost money. I'm sorry.

Support for the concept, but it's currently not feasible for the Scratch Team to do this now, with the cost of new servers and the problem of moderation

Increasing the Cloud Variable Limit
Sometimes I need more than 10 cloud variables, and sometimes I need one cloud variable containing more than 256 numbers, but obviously because there are too many Scratchers, the Scratch servers can not handle so many variables containing so much data, therefore, the Scratch Team made limits at 10 cloud variables per project and 256 numbers per variable.
For example, if you make a cloud vote, everyone can reload the project and vote again, to solve this you would need to make a list of all users who already have voted, but splitting up one variable into 5 variables is really hard.
My Idea is that the amount of numbers per variable depends on the number of cloud variables. For example, if you have 1 variable the limit is 2560 numbers if you have 10 variables the limit is 256 numbers if you have 256 variables the limit is 10 numbers, etc. This would be really useful for some projects.

Increasing the Cloud Variable Limit
Ok, I've never thought about it like that before.
Even though I'm a new Scratcher, I've learned from other people that the cloud variable limit is rather restrictive, even though they are only using 1 or 2 cloud variables.
Support. Make the most efficient use of your space, you know?

Support. This would really be beneficial, while not taking up more space.

To make the cloud limit higher, you need to glitch it. But the scratch team put this limit up so that you won't overload with requests.

I am working on an online would you rather game and need 35 cloud variables. I think I am going to quit making it, because I want to keep scratch more manageable. for the ST.

Where did you see this? There is a hard cap on the max limit, and it's pretty much impossible to go above it. To make the cloud limit higher, you need to glitch it.
Anyway, I'll answer the question.
Total Support.
This would help SO much with some projects. It wouldn't take up any more space than the normal limit and could be used to make projects using Cloud even better. Cloud multiplayer games could have support for many more users, cloud vote projects could be fixed, there are so many new opportunities if this gets implemented. You'd have a bigger workplace, still with a limit, but the limit would be laxer, enabling for many barriers being overturned. I don't see any negative downsides to this, only a lot of positives.
Support!

maybe something that asks “how much digits for this cloud variable ?” ? anyways support because it would prevent data corruption for +10 players games

10 cloud vars(limit) x 256 chars(char limit) = 2560 chars.
256 cloud vars x 10 chars(new limit) = 2560 chars.

This is absolutely genius in that it stretches the limits of cloud variables but doesn't make anything worse. I don't see how this would not be useful, support
