Thanking comments/posts
So on Wikipedia, there's this feature where you can “thank” someone for an edit they made. When you do that, the user who made the edit gets a notification that you thanked them. No one else can see that you thanked them (unless you look at the logs).
Why not have the same thing for comments and/or forum posts? If a comment or post that was posted helped you, but not enough to really post a thanks reply, you could simply “thank” the comment/post and the poster would know (through a notification) that their comment/post helped someone, like this:

Thank logs would be public, probably in the thanking user's “What I've Been Doing” section (like an item that says “user thanked post”), like this:

Obviously, this wouldn't only apply to forum posts - comments (everywhere) are included. Don't worry, it's not private messaging
there's no way to attach a message to the thanks.
I feel like this would promote a happier community more than likes or ratings or really anything that's publicly shown - people would feel good that their comments/posts are helping other people, and there's no real bargaining chip involved like there is with likes or ratings.
What do you think?
(Edit: added mockups)

I completely agree, @kenny2scratch! I've been helped more than once here, and haven't been able to thank anyone for their help without having to write another post. I vote for it!

For that matter, I think thanking posts should also be a thing I completely agree, @kenny2scratch! I've been helped more than once here, and haven't been able to thank anyone for their help without having to write another post. I vote for it!

Support. There's not a specific reason… it's just that I don't like when space is spent useless.

I figure that it would be a fun little addition to add to Scratch's model of friendliness. Where would the button be, though?

My opinions:
Pros:
You could just click, “Thanks” instead of commenting.
Cons:
People could spam you messages by thanking.
People could also say: If you thank this, you like me. If you ignore this, you hate me and I will report you.
All in all, I support IF the second of the cons is fixed.

That's a good question! I suspect the same limit would exist for comment thanking as there is for comment posting; the same limit would exist for post thanking as there is for post posting. would there be a 30/60/120 second rule for this as well?
On comments, it would be next to the “report” (and “delete”) links. On posts, it would be next to the “report” and “quote” (and “edit”) links. I figure that it would be a fun little addition to add to Scratch's model of friendliness. Where would the button be, though?
I think assuming the limit is the same as for commenting people could spam you thank messages as much as they could spam you with profile comments. People could spam you messages by thanking.
This happens with any feature of the site; it's unavoidable. Report any comments or posts like this. People could also say: If you thank this, you like me. If you ignore this, you hate me and I will report you.

Yes, of course I would report them. But this is just another form of cyber-bullying. People could make others feel bad if they miss the comments, and if they don't know they should report it, or they don't even know about the report feature, then it could be bad. This happens with any feature of the site; it's unavoidable. Ah, yes. but can you report or reply to thanks? You didn't mention it. So if people spam, and you go to their profile and say, “Stop spamming me!” the spammer would say, “I did not! I am reporting you for lying.” And you would have no way to prove they did it.I think assuming the limit is the same as for commenting people could spam you thank messages as much as they could spam you with profile comments. Not true - the ST would have logs of ‘thanking’ activity. If people used the function to spam you, you could go to their profile and report the user for spamming.Yes, of course I would report them. I see what you mean, and you're kind of right. But, as you probably know, there are some people out there who think Contact Us is dumb and doesn't work… and you can't have the same effect by commenting on a ST member's profile. Not true - the ST would have logs of ‘thanking’ activity. If people used the function to spam you, you could go to their profile and report the user for spamming.

Full support with a few modifications. First, I would say have more than 1 “button”, if you have read the Facepunch Forums, or at least use discord, you'll know what I mean. All of the ratings would be the forum and scratch emojis, and a thumbs up for thanks.
At the minimum, you can only rate once per post, as in 1 thanks/scratch emoji per person.

I like this idea! How about, to prevent spamming, you can only send one “thank” per comment/post?
The only downside I can see is someone saying
