Support. Self-promotion is one of the things essential to humanity. The amount of self-promotions made could be involved in determining when a user can switch from a New Scratcher to a Scratcher as well.

No support. Did you get this idea from roblox? Well, it could be annoying to a lot of people. Along with that, don't personalize them if they get added! It's called COPPA.

Okay, I'm going to have to be a little blunt here but I'm not trying to be offensive. Just sharing my view in a different way than I usually do.
So I don't know how many times I've told this on the forums, but Scratch is not about fame. All of these advertisements are not going to help anyone gain views in the first place. Tbh I've never went on a website and purposefully clicked on an advertisement. Now you might be thinking, “Hey, some websites do clickbait and that's why you don't click there!” but helloooo, someone once advertised their profile on Roblox and as far as I know no one clicked on that. When people view a project, they get completely absorbed into that and forget any distractions.
But that has nothing to do with my first sentence. Scratch is not about fame. Scratch is a place where you can learn to code, collaborate with others, sometimes even help others to code. It's a platform where kids can join together and try to make awesome, intuitive games. The thought that you did hard work on something is so much stronger than the thought that your project is famous. The more you advertise, the more people think it's a normal distraction and not view it. Even if Scratch were about fame, why would anyone click on these ads if they're all over the place?
The biggest question is, why can't people make projects and share it with good friends on Scratch who don't mind you advertising and will review it? My latest project, Proli - I just created one topic with a fantastic motto and title and I got about ten comments in one night. It's all about creativity, not about the fame. How do you think griffpatch or Wazzo got famous? Have you ever seen these people advertise?
Even if this suggestion were implemented, there are some things unclarified here:
I mean, sure, if projects needed to be good for ads, Scratchers would probably work harder on projects and stuff, but what's the point if ads are not so powerful these days? I'm not saying your suggestion is straight-up bad or anything, just don't think fame is so important on Scratch.
But hey, keep being motivated to improve Scratch,
~Nammy~

Even if this suggestion were implemented, there are some things unclarified here:
- What sort of projects would the ST accept? What if it was a blank project or just a project with Scratch Cat farting constantly? Would those be creative and good enough to earn an advertisement?
- You didn't mention at all that NFE projects will not appear in advertisements, and that should probably be the most important rule.
- Famous people would get unmotivated to do Scratch if people constantly clicked on advertisements - not cool, bro. We want some professionals on here.

Hello Nammy,
I like the way you think!
Thankyou, you made me laugh with the scratch cat farting thing, one question how do you get people to see or even know about your projects.
I have done:
- Putting my projects in the show in tell page.
- Putting my best projects into as much studios as possible.
- My friend tried to advertise for me.
- I have given the link to some of my friends.
I want to know the best way, because my project once it is done and released it will have:
- A intro with backstory
- Customization options
- Online (Multiplayer (Eventually))
- All original art
- Dungeon crawling
- Treasure gaining
- Boss fights
- An end cut scene
- And credits (to my team and play testers)
I feel like since me and my team have been working hard on this project and are self-motivated to do it, it deserves to get attention. Not to be lost on the scratch search bar and forgotten.
Thanks!

P.S. Should we have it be multiplayer on the same computer too?
Thanks, hopefullly you

Also how do you create a blog?
Hi! Make sure to discuss these things on my profile and not here, but for future reference, you can create a blog of yourself here: https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/29/topic/add/

No support. It seems like too much of a hassle and the restrictions are too subjective.

A couple ways to advertise your projects are as follows: Hello Nammy,

- Advertise the projects in your forum signature if you post on the forums a lot
- Ask other scratchers (like me ;P)for feedback on your project and they may love your project and they will at east give you helpful ways to make it better!
- When you release the project make a studio for it and invite all your followers.
- Use the show and tell forum. (This dosen't work very well though)
- Be as active on scratch as you can, comment funny, helpful and relavant things on other people's projects and once people see you enough they will check your profile out!
- Make good thumbnails. This is really important if you want any views.

Semi-support. This would may cause the lag on the website. Also, I would like if the ads were not made to pay money for the user/studio. All over the place, you see constant advertising. In comments of projects, profiles, studios, and forums. Many of these comments get replies saying “Please don't advertise.” That's why I came up with a respectful way of advertising.
On a typical website, there are advertisements out of the way. They take up the unused spaces of a website. What if, on Scratch, it was like that too? Except the advertisements were in Scratch related, not some company trying to get you to purchase something.
What Could Be Advertised?
-Scratch projects
-Scratch shops
-Scratch collabs
-Scratch profiles
-Scratch suggestions
-Scratch studios
How Could You Get Something Advertised?
There would only be a few simple guidelines:
-Thing being advertised must have never been on front page (if possible)
-User suggesting must have not been front paged in last three months
-Thing must be age appropriate and follow community guidelines
-No more than one advertisement a week
There would be two topics made by the Scratch Team. One would be called “Advertisement Requests” and one would be called “Official Advertisement Creating Service.” The first topic would be where you could request something to be advertised, and the other topic would be where you could an advertisement designed for you. Of course, you'd have the option to make your own if you wanted to, but if you lacked designing skills you could go there. Approximately 20 advertisements would be advertised every six hours. The schedule of advertisements would appear on the request topic's front page.
“This would ruin the Scratch Website!”
Although I believe this would help discover hidden projects and Scratchers, if you did not like this you could easily change this in Account Settings. You'd have the option to turn them off completely, or select areas of Scratch you'd be okay with having them. No matter where they were they would never get in the way.
How Is This Different From Getting Featured?
Not many get featured. With this method, more people will be able to get their stuff seen.
Let me know what you think of this idea!!

No support, seems like too much trouble. There are better ways to get attention than advertisements.
Also, the thing with advertising projects seems quite a lot like curated projects.
Disagree, Anyway of advertising on this website backfires and you don't get any views. Besides, some users don't let you advertise projects on theyre projects anyway

Thanks!
Please don't try to annex someone else's topic (basically when you “take over” and “make it your own”). Glad you got assistance, though.

Semi support. I do agree that this could get otherwise unknown Scratchers and their projects noticed but I'm not really a person who looks at ads and I do use an ad blocker, so it wouldn't really work on everyone. If the ads are hard coded into the website I probably still wouldn't click them though.
And yes, we would need rules regulating ads and their content.
Perhaps there can be a few ads, but at least don't overwhelm the whole site.
