even if a question you made did get answered, either you could report it to be closed or just wait out the time. 24 hours isn’t that long. This doesn't just apply to suggestions, in fact, the OP uses HwS as an example. If someone posts a question on QaS or HwS and it gets answered quickly, then they would have no reason to have to wait 24 hours to close it. no support. if you post a topic you should spend time on it, and think it’s a worthy enough suggestion to enter in.
Also, even on suggestions, it still has a reason to be there. For example, if someone accidentally posts a dupe and wants to close it, they would have to wait for a mod to close it. There isn't really any reason for them to have to.
BTW what does your post really have to do with it anyway? If someone spends time on a suggestion, then why would they want to close? I don't get what point you're trying to make.
also, the point i was trying to make is that if you spent more time on a post, you wouldn’t want to close it immediately
this goes back to the qas thing. if you’re questions get answered immediately, it probably wasn’t a very hard to answer question

Reporting just gives the mods more work because of a feature that serves no purpose. 24 hours doesn't seem like that long but it's long enough for you to forget to close it. Also, there are no reasons to keep this, there are only reasons to get rid of it. even if a question you made did get answered, either you could report it to be closed or just wait out the time. 24 hours isn’t that long.
So what you're saying is that everyone should put effort into their posts so they don't want to close them? That is simply not going to happen, everyone makes mistakes so it'll be useful if they do. also, the point i was trying to make is that if you spent more time on a post, you wouldn’t want to close it immediately
Why is it bad to post easy to answer questions in QaS or HwS? this goes back to the qas thing. if you’re questions get answered immediately, it probably wasn’t a very hard to answer question

I never really understood why the wait existed, besides the fact they can spread a message without any comment or closing from an authority. It would have to be dustbinned. I would say an hour wait would be fine

Yes, support, I don't see the point why you should only be able to close topics after 24 hours, since the things can be solved / unnecessary so much earlier!

A few trolls may do this…
- Make a topic
- Close it immediately so that no one can report it…
- Repeat the process and clog the forums..
