Different languages in Paint Editor.

Hello Scratch.
My suggestion is to add more language support to the paint editor.
I mean, whenever I use the paint editor and click the “Text Tool” I can type in English.
However, when I type in some other language, like Russian, it won't type.

Sorry, I'm sure the Scratch Team would add this if they could, but since they don't own the fonts, they can't do anything D: it's annoying, but the fonts only support Latin characters and we have to just deal with it (maybe it will get fixed with Scratch 3.0?

Aw, that sucks…
Well we can only hope.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that I guess you can report this to be closed if you're satisfied with that answer, or you can leave it open and see what other people have to say

I can type in different languages in the paint editor I think that whether or not you can depends on the fonts you have on your computer.

That's probably not right, and either way they are talking about languages in general. Sure you can use dots for an umlaut, but what about Chinese characters? They have to be hand-drawn. Also, I don't know why you would just no support with such a weak argument for it… At least give it a semi-support

I don't think Scratch uses the fonts which are on your computer, there's only Helvetica, Marker, Mystery, Gloria, Donegal and Scratch.
What foreign language can you type in?

Haven't tried them all to be honest, but I do remember typing in Russian.

Can you type in Japenese, Chinese, Russian or any other language that doesn't use the Latin alphabet? Don't bother, the answer is no, you can't. So yeah, it has nothing to so with the fonts you have on your computer, because this is talking about in the Scratch editor

But when I tried Russian it didn't type anything…
And it's Scratch 2.0, not 1.4.

Man, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian, and Serbian use the Cyrillic alphabet.

It used to work, but only with a certain font. I think that a recent update broke it or something.

It isn't; you're remembering wrong. The fonts just don't support non-Latin characters, like I say. And if I'm wrong then… well, I'll be really surprised
