How does Scratch make money
The Scratch Team collects donations, but probably just made Scratch to get kids programming, not for money.

How does Scratch make money
I don't think it really needs money, the scratch team surely don't have it as their full-time job. It's a tough question, to be honest. I hope I helped you!

How does Scratch make money
While I don't think every member of the Scratch team would have it as their full-time job such as moderators. I would think that some members of the Scratch team have a full-time job developing and managing Scratch. I don't think it really needs money, the scratch team surely don't have it as their full-time job. It's a tough question, to be honest. I hope I helped you!

How does Scratch make money
There is probably a lot more going on than any of us realize. Obviously there are grants and various universities do things for their own purposes but there is also a fair amount of marketing and administration for it all. Large corporate involvement from Google to Lego and Cartoon Network. You can probably count student tuition at MIT and a variety of other Universities both in the US to Brazil, Europe or wherever. Why do they have football teams and pools or study groups for ed majors or tech majors (not to mention free student labor). Just reading about Amazons tech challenge with a whopping 80K prize when the hundreds of robots there cost at least that much but Amazon can get these people to compete and innovate at low cost to themselves and a loss to the competing teams. I'm sure there's plenty of that going on somewhere in the supply chain. I'm sure many people involved have noble and altruistic intentions.
You can donate any amount but i bet you could dig as deep as you like and it might be fascinating about how and why universities and corporations involve themselves in such things. Much like the Amazon Robotics competition I'm sure google and other tech donaters/ investors are trying to limit their own training costs partnering with Universities and Universities love to partner with business to provide whats needed (skills) to stay relevant. A better business model than squeeze your competitors and burn down all the trees but I suspect a robust business going on behind the scenes nonetheless. It's free for users and is a tool for many other educators to do work. My suspicious side thinks of the quote if you're not paying for something, if you're not the consumer then you are the product
.
Oh and I haven't even speculated about the selling of information. I also doubt any of our intellectual property is worth much more than some lego sculpture. I doubt we're discovering anything that MIT or Google could use other than the study of us and our behavior ie we're the product.

Scratch developers are likely paid, and moderators are. I don't think it really needs money, the scratch team surely don't have it as their full-time job. It's a tough question, to be honest. I hope I helped you!
Also, Scratch relies on many servers, which aren't free.

There's a scratch store at myshopify. It redirects from scratch.mit.edu/store.

I mean, I'm pretty sure it still is not-for-profit: there's a difference between not making money and not for profit. This also gives the illusion of scratch being not-for-profit, while it actually is.
