Remove 'Mad' emoji

Hey look, it's the emoji! The one we all know and… love?
Unfortunately, this emoji is easily the most misused on Scratch (outside of spam). I'm sure everyone has seen something like this before:
WHY U NO SUPORT MY SUGESTION?
Or
ST why did you remove Discuss?

When someone uses the , it's almost always used in conjunction with an insulting or unhelpful post. I can't actually think of a reasonable use of the (other than in this topic obviously ) than isn't unhelpful or insulting.

That doesn't mean there is no reasonable use of the , simply that the pain and hate that is causing easily outweighs its usefulness.

Thus it should be removed.

I don't think we need to remove it? That might cause outcry all over again. Yikes.

No Support. A mad emoji is not always used for bullying or hate purposes.

I mean, if there anything wrong with this:

This script doesn't work. Can anyone help me?

Dangit, my project is gone. Oh well, guess I have to do it all over again.

Exactly. I'll admit I've used that emoticon before in non threatening ways.

Besides, any hate comments or comments that violate rules can be reported, right?

Even spamming can just be reported. But removing any emojis will just cause more flame wars…here…

No support, it can be used in ways that don't target people.

Support. 99.9% of posts that use the emoticon in a way that isn't insulting would be fine without the emoticon. The last 0.1% are just posts talking about the emoticon.

It's just not constructive, has too much potential to be used inappropriately and sure, we can report the ones that are bad, but if we remove the cause, we remove the symptom.

Where did you get the statistics from?

Yes, but very rarely does such a situation arise.

The repository that controls the forums is not maintained so this suggestion won't go through anyway.

Hm, you've piqued my curiosity now. Can you show me some examples of this emoticon used well? Then we can go from there.

Anyway! There are no verifiable statistics for the use of the , only impressions. People are likely to have different impressions. My impression is that it is frequently used in a hurtful way, and rarely in a useful way. That doesn't mean it can't be used in a useful way, but the consequences of leaving it in are overall worse than taking it out.

No support. ← emphatic

I have never used it before this post but I like to know it is there should the situation arise.
