It's my understanding that youtube links on the forums are converted to a Scratch-friendly player to avoid the comments section and so on. I expected this to happen on the comments as well. Nevertheless, it did not contrary to my expectations, and I accidentally linked to a video with not-so-nice comments.

The links should be converted automatically. Failing that, just to be safe the bad word detector should filter out youtube links that aren't converted manually.

I think this is a great idea. I always feel a little guilty when linking to YouTube videos, as I know that you can click on the extra links shown and accidentally be brought to some, erm, questionable places on accident. I hope that this is implemented soon, as then we can hide everything extra and just have the content we actually meant to link to.

Why is youtube worse than other sites? I would support but only if the word limit is increased as well.

But you can still just click on the embed youtube button to go to the video page. It doesn't really block access to youtube. And besides, if someone doesn't want to to see the comments then they just shouldn't scroll down.

Cause this is a site for kids, and Youtube is not really a kid-friendly site.

Support, they have it on the forums, so why not automatically in the comments on the regular site?

I don't really know how much I support. I like the idea but it might cause a few problems..

For people asking why YouTube should be blocked, it is because the comments on the YouTube videos are allowed to contain swearing and other inappropriate content.

But if the comments on YT can contain inappropriate content, that means they're technically allowed..

Agreed. For now when linking to YouTube we can just manually get the link to the Scratch Video Player and link to that instead.

Anyway, support, it's annoying to have to copy and paste a YouTube link into you're browser I don't know how to generate discussion forum links without posting a YouTube link there, it would save time and it will reduce or completely stop people going to the actual YouTube to view links sent to them, with full access to comments etc.
