Customize the Scratch Bar (Solution for Bringing Back the Discuss Button!!) 20+ SUPPORTERS!

Lately, everyone has been upset that the Scratch Team removed the Discuss button from the top Scratch bar. Because of this, Scratchers have created the hashtag #Bring_It_Back. Although we really want it back, at the same time we can see why they removed it. But, I have thought up an idea that would solve this, and many more problems.

What about customizing the Scratch bar yourself??

What if, there was a button that says “Personalize”, which would be located in the drop down menu on the Scratch bar, and from there, a list of buttons would show up. You could select 4 of these for the Scratch bar. Maybe the options could be:

-Create
-Studio Create
-Explore
-Discuss
-Wiki
-About
-Tips
-FAQ
-Store (the Scratch store)

And then there could be lots more to choose from. This is a great way as the Scratchers can choose what they want to have on their Scratch bar. The default would be how it currently is.

Support - personally mine would be how it used to look but with “Wiki” replacing “About”.

Awesome idea. Definitely would be of use to me! You might want to change the name of the button though. ‘Edit’ seems a bit vague.

I agree! I often have a hard time finding the Discussion tab because it's all the way down on the bottom. Maybe call it “Personalize”? Good idea!

I completely agree with this suggestion! It would allow every Scratcher to have their own preferences in their header bar. The button wouldn't show up for logged out users, right?

Next time, please post the image on an approved image hosting site so that it doesn't bring up anything sketchy, like a bunch of ads. I'd recommend cubeupload.

I don't know if that's exactly what we're thinking - maybe something in settings that says “Edit your navigation bar”?

Sorry, no support. This would be too unusual and confusing. The navigation bar should be set because it's part of the appearance of the website.

Here's a solution:
1.Remove the Tips button because you access it in the project editor
2.Remove the dropdown on the top right corner. Instead, your profile picture would be a shortcut to your profile, and the account settings would just be a settings icon
3.Add the discuss button back on the navigation bar!(If there's enough space for the search bar, keep the Tips button.)
This should be the answer to all our problems with the navigation bar.

Don't forget about how the website appears on phones; when signed out the navigation bar only shows Tips, About, and Join Scratch and when signed in the Join Scratch link is replaced with the messages icon and the profile picture; everything else can only be accessed on the non-responsive old site design pages

I think I like the idea how customizing the navigation bar by yourself, but don't you think…it's kind of too complicated or something?
