In the forums, change "New to Scratch" to "New Scratcher"
For some reason, in the forums, a New Scratcher has rank “New to Scratch” instead. I think it should be changed to “New Scratcher” because “New to Scratch” implies that they are someone who is actually new on Scratch. But they could just have a new account, or have decided not to become a Scratcher because they didn't need to. Or they could have been on Scratch for a long time, and just not gotten invited to become a Scratcher because they haven't been active in sharing that much. If it said, “New Scratcher”, that would tell people they had the New Scratcher rank without implying that they were actually new.

Doesn't ‘New Scratcher’ still imply that the Scratcher is new?

Please read the OP. They explained how that may not be true. Doesn't ‘New Scratcher’ still imply that the Scratcher is new?
Support. I always found it weird that it was different.

I did read the OP, I just don't agree. I always assume someone with the New Scratcher rank on the main site is new, unless they say otherwise. Please read the OP. They explained how that may not be true. Doesn't ‘New Scratcher’ still imply that the Scratcher is new?
Support. I always found it weird that it was different.

Either way, it is less consistent like this.So does ‘New Scratcher’.But with “New to Scratch”, it actually says they're new whether you assume it or not. I did read the OP, I just don't agree. I always assume someone with the New Scratcher rank on the main site is new, unless they say otherwise.

It is literally the same thing.
A new Scratcher is a Scratcher who just recently joined Scratch.
A person who is new to Scratch is someone who recently joined Scratch.
A new Scratcher is a Scratcher who just recently joined Scratch.
A person who is new to Scratch is someone who recently joined Scratch.

Good to have the same sort of language for both the forums and the main site though. It is literally the same thing.

A person who is new to Scratch is someone who recently joined Scratch.
I'm fine with either.

But if someone has seen lots of profiles but is new to the forums, they would know that it did not necessarily mean they were entirely new on Scratch if it said “New Scratcher”.So does ‘New Scratcher’.But with “New to Scratch”, it actually says they're new whether you assume it or not. I did read the OP, I just don't agree. I always assume someone with the New Scratcher rank on the main site is new, unless they say otherwise.
Yeah, I guess that's true. But someone might assume that there's some sort of detector that tells if a Scratcher is really new (like if there is not another account on the same network), and that that's why it says “New to Scratch”.Yeah, also the “New Scratchers” forum doesn't really match atm.Good to have the same sort of language for both the forums and the main site though. It is literally the same thing.

How does reading the OP automatically deny their opinion? I agree with them, New Scratcher still implies the same as New to Scratch. Please read the OP. They explained how that may not be true. Doesn't ‘New Scratcher’ still imply that the Scratcher is new?
Support. I always found it weird that it was different.

But not all New Scratchers are actually New to Scratch. They may have just not shared their two projects or not done some other requirement for Scratcher. How does reading the OP automatically deny their opinion? Either way, they have decided that they are neutral on the suggestion by now.

It doesn't literally mean the same thing. Not all New Scratchers are actually new, and not all new users are New Scratchers, so New Scratchers and new users are not exactly the same thing.Ipso facto they mean the same thing. But not all New Scratchers are actually New to Scratch. Anyway, if the purpose of the New Scratcher status is just to prevent spam, then it seems like it shouldn't be used to identify someone as new.
