Hey guys, Auroura here!
So, I've been trying to get some animators, artists and music developers for a collaboration, and I've noticed one thing; there are too many RPs! The entire collab section is flooded with RPs. But there's a simple solution to that. All that needs to happen is that another section is added to the Scratch forums for Role plays. Now don't take this the wrong way, I'm not hating on RPs, I just find it frustrating that there are so many of them flooding out my thread. Or maybe a sub forum in collabs called something like ‘RP planning and hiring’?

Also, this is (sort of) in line with the Scratch team's plans for Scratch. Imagine a new Scratcher trying to get some help for a collaboration and giving up because they can't get noticed among all the RPs. Yeah, unlikely scenario aside, the original point remains.

EDIT 2: People seem to be getting confused here. I'm talking about RPs, a text story between two or more people taking on different roles and pretending to be other people, not RPGs, which means Role play game. RPGs are completely different, they are a type of game which tend to have a turn based fight system and a character sprite that walks around on a map. Pokémon and Final Fantasy are both good example of these.
Technically, it's just a game where you take on the role of a person in the game (I think) which doesn't fit into the other sections. LoZ would go into this category despite its lack of turn based fight system

Yeah, support. RPGs aren't really collaborations in my opinion.

Shouldn't a roleplays go into the show and tell forum, because you are showing people your roleplay and telling them about it.

This sounds like a good idea. Maybe a little subforum inside Collaborations called “RPG Planning and Discussion”, “RPG Collaborations” or something along those lines.

Anyway, I support since the Collaborations section is large enough already, and just looking at the first page of it reveals how much of it is RP's.

Anyway, support, this would encourage more role-playing for one (Role-playing is a fun way to help Scratchers use their creativity and develop writing skills, and I think it's a good idea for more Scratchers to be exposed to RPing), and it would also help facilitate what's really a collaboration (a PRODUCT, not necessarily just one project, which a group of Scratchers are working to achieve) and what's not.

I love RPs/RPGs and I think that it would be a great idea to have a forum especially for them. Again,I love RPs but, sometimes, people put them in the wrong places. So, I truly support your idea.

Interestingly, this actually used to exist. The TBGs forum was closed on March 1, 2013, just before the switch to Scratch 2.0. It contained a section for text-based games and also roleplaying.

I can't actually find the reason why they were closed, but I'm assuming that if the ST removed them once, they'd probably not want to bring them back. That being said, it definitely doesn't seem like an improvement RPs are instead using the collaborations forum.

In summary, I agree they shouldn't be in the collaborations forum, but I don't think I necessarily support a RP-section. I'd be interested to hear why the TBGs were closed in the first place.

EDIT: By the looks of things, the RPing seems to take place in studios, not on the forums. In that case, I think I'd support moving the RPs' topics to Show & Tell, as they seem to be, essentially, advertising a studio.

The way RPs work force them to get bumped, the way new members are always joining and always chatting, even though people try to keep their RPs in studios, people sometimes end up spamming the collab section with them. Just thought I'd add this. Also, can people stop putting RP's? It doesn't need an apostrophe! xD

Is this an actual rule? Because on the collab section it takes 3 hours tops to get off of the front page. That's why I brought this up in the first place. It's so difficult to get attention there xD

They still exist http://tbgforums.com/forums/ (this is actually the Scratch TBG forums but it doesn't have anything to do with Scratch anymore)

Yeah, it's a rule, but you aren't able to be reported for it or something similar to that.

Yeah, it's a rule, but you aren't able to be reported for it or something similar to that.

actualy, RP's aren't allowed in the forums. you can organize one in the forums like put the sign-up sheets and character list in the forums but only the collabs. but to actually RP you have to create a studio for it.
