Users not using scratch
If users don't use scratch for about 6 months or a year, that takes up the usernames we could use. So, if they don't use scratch or doesn't share any projects in scratch, is it possible that the scratch team can delete the user so that the username can be used for good users actually making projects?

No support. This could cause a lot of confusion, and wouldn't really be fair to inactive Scratchers.
Also, when a username is taken, it can't be used by another account, even if it gets deleted.

If unactive scratchers don't use scratch, the scratch team could delete the scratcher and make the username usable. What's the use of scratch if people are just gonna use it to socialize and not make projects?

Like I said, when a user gets their account deleted, their name can't be reused. If unactive scratchers don't use scratch, the scratch team could delete the scratcher and make the username usable. What's the use of scratch if people are just gonna use it to socialize and not make projects?
And what if the user decides to come back to Scratch?
“Wow, it's been a long time since I last visited this website… Wait, where did my account go?”

No support, due to the above reasons. Also, inactive scratchers' projects like RHY's would be deleted.

What if the system just deleted users who hadn't done anything (anything at all) on Scratch? Like, they had no projects, shared or unshared, they didn't love or favorite anything, they didn't change their profile picture, they didn't manage, own, or curate any studios, they never commented, they never posted on the forums…

What if someone wanted to make an awesome super-fancy first project and was making it offline because they had internet issues? Or what if they were trying to use their account, but again, super-long internet issues? What if the system just deleted users who hadn't done

Anyway, no support. All work will be gone on someone's account! What if @griffpatch stopped using Scratch for a few months? There's no more Paper Minecraft, Pathfinding AI, or any other cool projects people made!

If that were in place, my account would not exist. I joined Scratch several years ago, then I left for a while (by “a while”, I mean over a year). If this were in place, I would have had to get a different username.

No support.
There are lots of well-meaning people who simply can't use their account for a long time. (I know one of these personally.)

My suggestion is that the Scratch Team deletes accounts that contain no projects and were made a long time ago.
Why would this be helpful? This would be helpful because it would allow new Scratchers to choose from a wider variety of user names when they join. Also it will help make search more relevant. I cannot say how many times I have searched things to find that half of the results are just blank accounts that haven't been touched in 4+ years. A smaller thing is that it could (possibly) clear up server space. And it might make searching faster because the Scratch servers won't have to index as many accounts.
Anyone like this idea? I would love to hear your thoughts.
EDIT: This was copied from a topic I made earlier by a moderator, so…
