I suggest that we make it clear that the username you choose when joining Scratch will be your permanent username. The way I think is best to do so is to make a (?) icon next to the place were the username is typed. I believe pictures would better explain this, so I am going to post a couple pictures here to show my suggestion…

Yes. That one exactly. I support bth, but would prefer that one, cause some people might think “It's just a bunch of internet saftey stuff.”

I think it should appear when you are typing in the Username box instead of having it be a button.

Myself, I wouldn't click on a “?” icon because that means “help” to me, and I don't need help choosing a username (but really, it's not help: it's important information about username changes)

Ok, I've seen what everyone has been saying, and I decided to make another screenshot with a new look to this message. I studied how the place where you type your password looks when the user has it selected, it looks like this for those of you who aren't sure what I am referring to:



So, my new proposal is another message bubble like the one you just saw, but for the username place. It would look something like this:



So, what do you think about the new image? Any thoughts?

Great idea, and I support because this would help inform new Scratchers about this.

You could also add it to where it says "Choose a Scratch username“, adding ”(it is permanent - cannot be changed later." Or something similar to that.

It would make it easier on forum posters so they don't have to tell them “It's not possible, read the stickies, no support, etc”
