Disable "Auto-save"

I'm probably the only one, but I after every small change the project saves itself which is good if you don't want to lose anything. I would like a way to disable this as when it auto-saves it causes a loading bar with some lag, depending on the change it takes a while and is quite frustrating and sometimes it saves for no reason. Why can't we choose to have it on or off? As when you leave you are asked "Do you want to save?" and you can save it that way. If it fails to save it tries constantly to save it and alerts you that it couldn't even if you didn't want it to save.

This is just my opinion. Please share your opinions.

Edit: This would be a optional thing, not completely getting rid of auto-save, just a option is disable it.

Disable "Auto-save"

Support for being able to disable autosave.

Alternatively, perhaps autosaves could be completed in the background to prevent intrusion.

Disable "Auto-save"

Support as it's optional, not everyone would want it

Disable "Auto-save"

Hi,

I found that there is a ‘save now’ option that appears when I am using scratch at home on Safari 9.1 and Chrome 50. However this does not appear when I am at our local library. At the library the projects definitely autosave then they log us out and crash as the network can't handle all of the autosaving.

Could it be different on different browsers?

No Support. It is needed in case your computer crashes, and will save periodically.

I'm not sure but I think that if you try to change something DURING a save (or if a save is interrupted), that could cause data corruption.

OP: support.

Ah, yes. While this is true, what if I don't want it to save? Plus, it would be optional. I don't want to have this huge message box in my face all the time when I move a sprite 1 inch.

Support if optional, some actually like it.

Of course I support (disabling auto-save is optional), but this it probably one of the things the ST has at the bottom of their list of things to do.

Hey, you know what disabling auto-save is really good for?

When you're trying to use online Scratch with no internet.

I forgot why I was doing that in the first place, but the experience was horrendous.

I've had auto-saves which made me lose a butt load of progress in the past. This would also help when your internet drops out from time to time.

Support. It would be useful for large projects and if you wanted to try out changes to a projects but not necessarily want to keep them.

Support if optional for this reason.

Many times my computer locks up and autosave luckily happened to back up my 2 hours of work.

However, other times it can be somewhat disruptive.

Disable "Auto-save"

HUGE Support. (And bump.)

I was editing a project, and I was only going to save the project when I was completely done updating it.

BUT, due to auto save, the project saved. Someone played the project in that time, and was confused. *Face palm*

So, I love this idea because it would cause updating projects to be easier.

(And, just to let you know there are multiple reasons why I wouldn't unshare the project to update it.)

So, where would this button be?

In the edit tab? Account settings? One of the two could work.

So i'm working on a big project for a challenge with a prize worth TEN THOUSAND dollars and its a big code but sometimes when it autosaves it says it cant save most likely because of the code or something (in the project) and its really worrying me like if my laptops gonna crash or something

Disable "Auto-save"

Well now it doesn't intrude you unlike in Scratch 2.0 where it would do that. But in Scratch 3.0 It now says “Saving project…” on the navigation bar in the editor.
Support, could be useful for some reasons like if a network cant support all of the auto saving.
