Well, an avatar could be useful for a game in which you have to select characters. You could select your avatar and play as your avatar. Still don't support? Try making a project in which you can make an avatar and use it in game. See? WAYY too confusing.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, the avatars would be completely kid-friendly, and you couldn't upload your own. The post you're replying to is talking about using the person's avatar in a project, not uploading custom avatars.

1 - You said you didn't want something like paint.net, MS paint, etc. because that would just be one image. Those are image editors.

I thought this was an interesting idea so I'm gonna drop my opinion here.

From what I'm reading, you could go somewhere in the settings or profile settings to create an avatar, likely built upon some Scratch Cat sprite, and in the editor, an extension could be used that would use that users avatar in the game, similar to Miis.

I feel like this *might* discourage users from getting creative and remxing??? One of my favorite things to do when I was younger was to play projects I liked and then remix them by adding my own original characters. I feel like adding this feature would lower the number of projects that encourage the user to remix, for example those “Add Yourself!” projects. (Granted those are kinda old.)

I like this idea, but I'm concerned about the technical difficulties. if this were possible, I'd like it, but maybe not the inserting-into-project thing. That would be to hard for the ST. But a quick character creator would be really cool.

No support. If you want avatars in a game, make your own system for it with an editor (if you want them to save, use cloud variables). If this would be SOLELY for customization, most people find having a customizable profile area AND profile picture (plus a forum signature) MORE then enough.

Not to mention that, to add avatars, you need to know the rigging and be able to move it. Even if it ends up being a bunch of rotation at joints, new Scratchers likely wouldn't use it anyways because they might not be sure what to do with all the joints (which would need to at least have neck, left hip, right hip, left shoulder, and right shoulder, possibly also having mid-torso, left knee, right knee, left ankle, right ankle, left wrist, right wrist, left eye, right eye, etc.)

I feel this isn't a good suggestion.
Basically, get a transparent png of a scratch character and draw or put more transparent png clothing on it.
This isn't pokemon.

I think this should be made as an extension, instead of just normal blocks.
