Scratch Avatars?
Hi, I literally JUST thought of an awesome idea, and I'm really excited to share it with you guys!
So here's my idea:
Avatars In Scratch
It would work like this: On your profile, you can click “Create an Avatar! +” or something similar. You can edit their look and info with some clicks and you can save them. You can choose which avatar is yours, and it will display right next to your thumbnail!
But that's not all… my 2nd idea is that you can use them in projects, like Miis! There would be a special set of blocks for them, and they would be really useful in certain games. Here are some ideas for blocks:
…and all other sort of motion-related blocks like these.
I also think you should be able to put them in sprites somehow… you guys can help too!
I think they should have a cool little name too like Scratchatars or something, you guys can help me with this too!
This would make Scratch a unique place, as not a lot of other websites have this feature.

No support. I feel like this feature wouldn't be very useful. You can always just use some other online or offline avatar creation software. There are plenty of online avatar creation softwares where you can customize your avatar to look exactly the way you want it to. But on Scratch? I don't see how having a custom avatar creator will help with programming.

Well, an avatar could be useful for a game in which you have to select characters. You could select your avatar and play as your avatar. Still don't support? Try making a project in which you can make an avatar and use it in game. See? WAYY too confusing. No support. I feel like this feature wouldn't be very useful. Well, you could make your own in-game avatar editor, instead of trying to be lazy and have the ST make everything easy for you. We can't let the ST make everything easy for you- what's next, an instant platformer block?Well, an avatar could be useful for a game in which you have to select characters. How would you have a sprite of EVERY single costume with EVERY single different body part? A code? Seriously, stop trying to be lazy and just code it. If you want, I can make an example project (but not right now as I am about to watch a movie). We can't let the ST make everything easy for you- what's next, an instant platformer block?when gf clicked

HOW TO DO THIS WITHOUT THE THING YOU SUGGESTED
1- Get an image editor, like paint.net, MS paint, photoshop, or whatnot.
2- Make your own avatar out of a preexisting image or your own.
And you're done!
Place blocks for one body part, and then copy and paste it in other body parts, or have them coordinate with each other. It takes time but it's still possible.

No offense or anything, but it's kind of disrespectful to just say I'm lazy when I am honestly just trying to be helpful. I'm trying my best! It was confusing to code it a little, and eventually I just had to take a break. When you're making a suggestion, you always have to think about your audience. What about a New Scratcher? Would you just say to them “make an avatar editor”? I wouldn't. You are ABSOLUTELY available to not support my idea, but I'd just really like the feature. How would you have a sprite of EVERY single costume with EVERY single different body part? A code? Your 1st idea: We don't want just one, that's boring! Your 2nd idea: Well, yeah, but what about sharing them? I'm really just trying to make this idea simpler. Plus, this a pretty unique idea as not a lot of other websites have something like this. HOW TO DO THIS WITHOUT THE THING YOU SUGGESTED

1- If you don't want an image editor, why bother with this idea?
2- You can share by uploading the image into the project. It's that simple.
3- It's because the Avatar feature, in context, is just a way for people to spread gang colors and can lead to competition among users.

1 - When did I ever say anything about an image editor? Read my argument below \/ 1- If you don't want an image editor, why bother with this idea?
2- You can share by uploading the image into the project. It's that simple.
3- It's because the Avatar feature, in context, is just a way for people to spread gang colors and can lead to competition among users.
2 - So you want everybody to make an avatar in an image editor then have it requested to be added?
3 - Scratch will not add gang colors.

I would say no support to a new scratcher because I think this idea is way too specific to actually be used that often. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I highly doubt this idea will be implemented due to the amount of work the ST would have to do in order to make something that really wont be used too much and will teach scratchers to be lazy.No offense or anything, but it's kind of disrespectful to just say I'm lazy when I am honestly just trying to be helpful. Scratch isn't one of those “make a game very easily in like 10 minutes” things. It's supposed to help you learn how to program! If you can't be bothered to program your game, then don't use Scratch. Find a different place to make them that actually makes this stuff easy. (Also, sorry if this is coming off as rude.)See? That's the point. It's too confusing to make it, so why not add it. Also, avatars wouldn't make Scratch unique. Roblox, Miis, Xbox Live avatars, etc. Those are all similar to your idea. -snip-
