Will ScratchX extensions ever be added to the main Scratch website?

I have been on the ScratchX website, and some of the extensions are quite cool. As of the time of this post, Scratch is lacking in the choice of extensions, as they only have support for Lego WeDo and for the Picoboard.

See How can I make my extension official?, and lower sections.

I assume when enough extensions have been made the ST will start picking out some to be added to the main website. Meanwhile you can submit them as stated in lower sections I guess.

@liam48D has the right idea – we're hoping to eventually start that process of adding more extensions, but we're not quite ready to do that just yet

Is it possible to create a scratch extension that would serve as a way to open links to websites? For example, if you used a board and connected it to a button and pressing the sensor would open a website on the screen. Is that possible? By link I mean hyperlink like this http://www.beckersspine.com/orthopedic-a-spine-device-a-implant-news/item/31538-has-xenco-medical-ushered-in-the-future-of-spine-surgery.html
Thank you!

I just wanted to add to my first post. Is it possible to connect the scratch program to musical instrument? So that playing a certain note would translate into computer code?

Hey @catyorangnnne8!

1. musical instrument idea – I think that's really interesting! Extensions are not designed at the moment to give access to blocks that are already in the editor. They're designed to create new blocks. So, as an example, an extension in this case might instead be something that can sense what MiDi input comes from a connected electric instrument, and passes that as input to the editor through a block.

Doing this might be hard, though, because it would require connecting a physical device to a browser. I'm not totally sure.

If you're interested in connecting musical instruments to existing blocks in the editor, though, you could take a look at Scratch Blocks, which is the source code for the new version of the editor. Finding a way to hook up MiDi instruments to blocks in that repo might be easier than an extension!

2. open links to websites – I'm not sure we could do something like this in Scratch. We don't really make it possible to have links to external websites in projects, so having blocks to do that would probably not be possible. You don't need scratch to do that, though – you could just hook up a MaKey MaKey to your computer and use it as an external keyboard, I bet!

I thought that was the source code of the block UI part of the editor?

Yup, thanks @liam48D! @catyorangnnne8 that repo is specific to blocks, like @liam48D mentioned. The other repo that will be useful to look at with this will be the Scratch VM.

I found out you can use the dev console on chrome to add in some JS extensions like this one https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/topic/76342/?page=2 scroll to the third post of page two, for a tutorial on how to install

What if you made a in project in lets say python and you wanted to advertise it in scratch but then we would have to put the link in about
