First, use scratch to record audio (and video?) of your pet bird. Make an app that will run all day while you aren't there, randomly ‘talking’ to your pet. Be careful, don't make it too annoying and drive your bird crazy! If you had a microphone, you could even program it to respond back to your bird's calls.
