What happened to Single Stepping Mode?

And could you please bring it back? It is one of the most helpful debugging things for students to see each step highlighted as the script runs so they can visually learn to walk step-by-step to find the errors.

What happened to Single Stepping Mode?

This was a helpful tool, even though I've used it only about 2 times, so I support. Maybe the menu under File could be updated to include a setting, a setting in which you set the speed? Like single-stepping, normal, and turbo?

What happened to Single Stepping Mode?

Right now I'm torn between having my students use 2.0 on the web (makes homework easy) and going back to 1.4 just because it has single stepping. I don't suppose there is hope it would be brought back in the next week?

What happened to Single Stepping Mode?

I completely agree with the above posts that single stepping should be implemented in Scratch 2.0. It is an essential part of troubleshooting programs and helping kids understand what went wrong. While some debugging can be done with “printouts” it clutters the program and needs to be undone later on. I too am considering sticking with Scratch 1.4 because of availability of single stepping.

Is Scratch team open to external help in implementing single stepping in Scratch 2.0?

Support. For one thing, there is info out there on Google that single stepping is available meaning people will be looking for it anyway.

I would also like this feature to be brought back into Scratch 2.

Single Stepping is invaluable when teaching children the “art of debugging”. Ideally we should be able to control the steps speed, from normal to really slow so that we can “follow the flow” of our code. See http://worrydream.com/LearnableProgramming/#flow

Support! I have many times wished I could do this. Plus, this post deserves to be back at the top!
