dude! cool down. it should be fine. just add age ratings.

Hey there. This was addressed in the first forum post:

Why not implement an age appropriateness rating system on Scratch?
Everything shared in our community should be appropriate for all ages. Any type of age restriction placed on a project by the Scratch Team, community members, or project authors isn’t aligned with this philosophy.
If you added maybe like a 10+ version of Scratch, everyone would be just fine. We can't even have ratings!? Thats stupid though,
We can't have age ratings or the ST violates their own rules:
1.3 Scratch is open to children and adults of all ages, and we ask that you keep this in mind when using the Scratch services. When you use Scratch, you agree to abide by the Scratch Community Guidelines.
Scratch welcomes people of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
THANK YOU YOU GET WHY THEY DID IT I'M GOING TO FOLLOW YOU
Will everyone stop complaining before reading the original post?
Everyone is suggesting age ratings. It's very annoying!
1.The topic ISabout the original post,People don't know what they want to talk about if there was no original post!
2.@Econinja said it was for All ages and she ended the subject right there.

I love FNAF. I did BEFORE it was cool. Then this happened. I had come to Scratch so I could freely code and create my fangames with ease. I nearly cried with joy when I finished my first one. Making them is my specialty, and if you check my profile, you'll see what I mean. Not to advertise or anything, but I just wanted to show I was getting real good at this stuff. Once this happened, it was like sawing off my right arm. (I'm right-handed) I had lost what I was good at. I got a GameJolt account, but I feel awful for those who aren't so lucky. My best friends all agreed that it was all really kind of nonsense to ban the jumpscares, it was like saying Mario's inappropriate because the princess gets kidnapped. And according to the first post, “FNAF is rooted in murder and kidnapping.” Tell me WHEN in the storyline there was kidnapping. The children were murdered at the pizzeria. I understand. But you can't remove a backstory to a game. If a FNAF fan saw a non-inappropriate FNAF animation, they may still think of the backstory. And I know banning the projects containing the backstory would help others, but think of all the conspiracy studios and discussions the ST would have to remove. To kids being scared, I know, I know. And we can't use warnings or restrictions either. I know. But it's the kid's fault if they search it up, because that would mean they already know what it is, and probably have already seen it on YouTube. And I have NEVER seen a FNAF project in the featured area, or anywhere else on the front page, except the Most Recent area. And maybe we could except FNAF projects from there and keep it like that, so youngsters like my little brother Griffin don't accidentally run into it. I'm just saying, there's a lot of compromises we can come to, instead of flaming. Come on, let's fix this problem. Together.
JUST STOP! How many times do you have to tell us why you don't want FNAF to leave Scratch? This is like the 5th time You CAN STILL keep making ANY TYPE of FNAF game you want JUST DON'T SHARE IT
I don't care if I don't get to make FNAF fangames, I have GameJolt. I'm supporting those who can't make such an account. Those “people” I stand for are my closest and most trusted friends. (But also the rest of the FNAF lovers.) And stop using all caps, this is a non flame post.
, but you aren't thinking of the little kids?

Correct! Just make a non-violent one. Or, you can keep it unshared, then show the entire (scary) version to the class on your account. You don't need to reshare it for the entire class to see it.

PLEASE READ THE POST! THIS IS WHAT IS GOING ON. FNAF IS NOT BANNED. PROJECTS ARE NOT BEING DELETED.
Pay special attention to the bolded and italicized parts of this.

speakvisually wrote:

Over the past year, the Scratch moderation team has been thinking (and rethinking) our stance on Scratch projects that feature the popular video game Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF).

When these projects started appearing in the community, we heard from a number of Scratchers who questioned the appropriateness of these projects on an all-ages website. We’ve continued to hear from Scratchers, teachers, and parents who have expressed concern about these projects.

Which aspects of the games can be considered inappropriate according to the Scratch Community Guidelines? 1) Graphic content: Many projects contain disturbing imagery that can be seen as too intense for Scratch. 2) Backstory: The plot of Five Nights at Freddy's is rooted in murder and kidnapping. 3) Jumpscares: Frightening images abruptly flash on the screen.

What’s the impact of this content on Scratch? Multiple school districts have blocked access to Scratch. Several parents have reported their children having nightmares. A number of community members feel uncomfortable browsing Scratch because of this type of content.

In the coming weeks, the Scratch moderation team will begin to unshare some “Five Nights at Freddy's” content from the website. We will start to unshare emulations of the game (i.e. Scratch projects designed to be replicas of the game), since emulations of the original game contain much of the game’s original scary content and background story.

Content moderation is difficult. We want to ensure that you are all able to express yourselves while also balancing the needs of the community. We understand that unsharing and restricting content is no fun — but we hope you understand why we have decided to take this step to help make sure the Scratch community remains a friendly site for people of all ages.

Thanks,
Scratch Team

FAQ:
Why not implement an age appropriateness rating system on Scratch?
Everything shared in our community should be appropriate for all ages. Any type of age restriction placed on a project by the Scratch Team, community members, or project authors isn’t aligned with this philosophy.

Can I put a disclaimer on my Scratch project to warn people it's not for all ages?

Will all Five Nights at Freddy’s content be unshared?
Nope. We’ll only unshare projects that violate our Community Guidelines. For instance: An emulation of the game containing all of the elements described above are not okay. On the other hand, a Freddy Fazbear dress up game? That’s probably okay.

Will this lead to my account being blocked?
Nah. No worries if you created a Five Nights at Freddy’s project in the past. However, we ask that you do not reshare the project if it violates the Community Guidelines.

Will I be able to reshare my project?
If you remove the parts that make the project inappropriate — the jump scares, the scary backstory, the frightening images, or any other content that isn’t appropriate. If you are unsure if your project is reshareable, you can email Contact Us and we will reevaluate your project.

Is my project “deleted”?
Nope. We did not “delete” any of the projects. If it violated the Community Guidelines it was unshared. You can now find it in your Unshared folder.

Why are you unsharing FNAF projects instead of Scratch projects X,Y, or Z which are far scarier?
If you are aware of other Scratch projects that you feel go against the Community Guidelines, please use the Report button on the projects so we can check them out.

Why are you unsharing FNAF projects when my 6 year-old nephew / sister / cousin loves the game and thinks it is not scary?
Finding one example of a younger person that is not disturbed by the game doesn't prove that there aren't many others that do find it disturbing. We have heard from a lot of kids, parents, and teachers that feel that some of the FNAF projects are not appropriate for Scratch.

Thank you for all the feedback on the FNAF policy - and thanks to everyone who worked on this topic to help answer questions about the policy.

At this point it seems that the discussion has pretty much stopped being productive so I'll close it. If you have further questions about the policy or about your own FNAF projects, please use the Contact Us button at the bottom of every page.

I'll leave you all with a copy of the Frequently Asked Question list from the first post in hopes that it might be useful.
