New Sound Detection Block Sugestion

I've looked at all work arounds, and it's simple not possible to detect the loudness of a sound played through wav files. it would be really awesome, and help a lot of people if there was a block that could do that.

(loudness)
Can you please explain what's wrong with this block?

that block detects the volume measured by the mic. Mics have a really hard time picking things up. Also; you it won't work if 1. other people are making noise or talking 2. there is white noise 3. you're using earbuds/headphones.

This.

Plus, couldn't you listen to the audio beforehand and make any code adjustments?

The main purpose would be to make games or whatever where the gameplay revolved around the change in tempo or volume, or it making audio visualizers.

That's way too specific for a block.

Duplicate of this (I think it is, the OP of that one is inconsistent as to whether it returns the volume or frequency).

Jeez, the Scratch forms really took a turn for the worst. I see ZERO motivation from other users. From my eyes, this would be very useful. More people that you think don't have microphones and, as shown above, background sound is a huge problem. I am personally seeing more and more games on the scratch community having the music based theme. Many advantages could come from this such as:
1.no microphone users
2.avoid background sound
3.this would not be the hardest block for the scratch team to develop
4.and bring a whole new wave of game/project innovation to the scratch community
I don't care what others think, I'm gonna help this creative idea.

Support.

Jeez, we're supposed to help the ST by reporting duplicates and nercoposts since the forum has grown.

How when we already have the

block?
No support, loudness is enough and

What?!

What has happened to the forums?

Your arguments are pathetic. No uses? What about non-mic people? Too specific? Well, I say the () + () block is too specific, it's used only for adding numbers. You can use the () - () block for that.

Plus, couldn't you listen to the audio beforehand and make any code adjustments?
Ooooh, yay! Because audio visualisers are sooo coool when they are non-responsive, pre-programmed, lagging ahead or behind the actual music due to the differing speeds of users' computers. Also, do you fancy creating contantly evolving intricate patterns perfectly in time with a 3-4 minute long song? No? Then, quite honestly, please stop posting.

What does that even mean? If you're implying that soon Scratch might have voice-recognition, that's awesome! Otherwise, what?! Also, your [scratchblocks] skills are terribly lacking; why is pizza a ring? Rings are for enclosing other operators, not existing as one.

Obviously, I support this idea; I myself would have found it useful several times in the past.

It seems awesome, useful and would open up lots of creative possibilities,

But I don't want to stop posting…

Also, just because someone has different interests than you doesn't mean they deserve to get kicked out. I am simply expressing my opinion. If you have a problem with my freedom of speech, then maybe you're the one who should leave.

Also also, why should the ST implement something that only has one function (audio visualization)?

fair point, fair point. But you can do a lot with audio visualization. So many people have tried the same thing with the mic, but it's terribly disfunctional. So many people would use it, that's why. That's kinda why anyone would suggest new blocks.

for example, some people like me are 80% deaf or entirely deaf and can't hear music. Audio Visualizer are how deaf people enjoy music. This would obviously be a good thing for the purpose of Scratch which is to educate and otherwise benefit EVERYONE.

A game with a long soundtrack, such that when the music gets louder surviving gets harder.

I totally agree! That would help me alot! for example, What if you recorded, but crickets played at the same time but the crickets were too loud?
