A Better Human Verification System

Recently, I have been seeing a spike of Spambots since late June to now. And it is getting to the point where we need to be doing something about it, even though we have an email verification system.

It seems like @jvvg's idea is a good idea. So, here we go-

<triangle>
Click the image that is the same shape as the image above:
<square> <circle> <upside-down triangle> <star>

That would be extremely easy, and doesn't even require any language proficiency. However, since I haven't seen it on any other websites, it would be extremely effective (the one I used to use on my website just involved clicking on one letter and had about a 1/5000 failure rate).

The Scratcher would only have to Complete these tests once.

Would Scratchers have to complete these tests every month? What would happen if they don't complete the tests? This is a good idea, but please clarify.

Clarified- Only once. If it were every time, then that would be bad…

Yeah. I guessing this would be in addition to email verification?

I saw something similar to this mentioned on another topic. If forget who… I'm pretty sure that either Superdoggy of Chibi-Matoran said that upon signup, there should be two checkboxes– one that has to be checked, and one you shouldn't check. Maybe this could be one of your tests?

Also, since spambot accounts could be made really quickly, maybe rather than the test changing monthly, there are a bunch of tests, and a random one is given. The test could be made different if the system sees that there are multiple accounts from the same IP address being made.

Honestly, I have no idea and I'm just spewing out whatever comes to mind.

Support. I also have another kind of puzzle.

You would have to match up a picture with the correct word.

As someone who has been fighting against spam for a long time, I am pretty experienced in what to do. The key is to have a unique system. Spambots are able to adapt to almost anything if someone has enough time to program them, but people generally only program tools to get around the common CAPTCHAs (like the old reCAPTCHA, math problem ones, and a few other common forum plugins). However, if your website uses something unique (it could be something as simple as recognizing shapes, as long as it's not something commonly used), then you have successfully defeated spambots. One I suggested earlier is that you do something like this:

there used to be a site I went on where to stop XP farming at a certain point of XP in a day you had to click a cat (there was a choice of a cat and a dog).
Something like this would be nice.
“Click the cat to confirm your humanity.”

I think that someone already made this suggestion though but I was only skimming through the thread tbh
