I think that the vector graphics are indeed advanced, but I think that some of us want the old sprite editor back. The reason is because it is easier to make sprites for me with pixels, and the vectors aren't very good at doing that. Vectors are mainly lines, while pixels are individual dots that allow for (somewhat) more detailed pixel drawing. The vectors are good for direct and straight drawings, while the pixels can be used for more detail and easier drawing.

I think this could be resolved by adding an option to switch between the two while you're editing sprites or backdrops.

I agree, I like to make 8-bit projects so it will be harder with the new editor.
You can still import bitmaps (sprites) you've already made, but it's not as efficient.
