Most Compatible Hardware??

My upper grade kids (4-6) are already familiar with and using Scratch in the classroom. I am developing a STEM lab and want to start connecting Scratch to their physical projects. I was originally thinking of using Arduinos, but is doesn't look like they are the most compatible with Scratch. Any recommendations for which hardware I should look into? Arduinos, pico boards? We have one Lego Mind Storm and one Lego We Do. I will be working with 24 classes so I am looking for hardware that is a bit more accessible to many students and is feasible to by many of.

We have access to iPads and a Mac Lab.

Thanks!!

For ease of use, look at ScratchX. This extension uses the grove hardware.

For more flexibility (with grove or discrete hardware), take a look at s2a_fm for the offline version of Scratch or Xi that runs on ScratchX.

The pico baord does not have any actuators (LEDs, motors, etc) but only sensors.
