A new language for a new version! (First post here!!!)
nuqneH!
I just thought that we should add more languages to scratch since we are hitting a new version and all…
nuqDaq ta' SoH pol yuch
Ever see THAT in scratch? NOPE!
Is scratch being racist to KLINGONS!!!
I hope not!
That would be horrible!
The Klingon language, tlhIngan Hol (pronounced /?t?????n xol (oops!!!)), is the most commonly spoken fictional language ever (YES, more than elf-ling!).
It has many books writen about it, and has a online translator (mrKlingon.org).
It also has a Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klingon_language)
Isn't that enough?
I'll gladly do the translating!

I will be posting any updates here!

Klingon isn't a race, therefore Scratch cannot be racist towards them.

While having Scratch in fake languages would be fun, I think the main priority of the Scratch Team is to finish the 2.0 update as many people are complaining it is taking too long. I think you're the only one complaining about not having Scratch 2.0 in a fake language, however.

Klingon isn't “fake” and I'm pretty sure this isn't a troll; it is a real conlang and many people use it. However, it is not that commonly used in general and is no-one's main language. You could start a translation, but there are more important things that affect everyone they've got to attend to.

veggieman001Okay. The ST shouldn't spend time translating into fictional languages. Better word choice?

I'd like it, but it would probably have to be a volunteer effort.
EDIT: BTW,comes up as Klingon_Language.
EDIT2: It comes up in the Scratch Wiki, looking to fix…..
EDIT3: Fixed.

OK. I was kind of joking here, though if someone will tell me how to add a language to scratch, I'll do it, and I think ST won't mind adding it to scratch.

You didn't have to fix it!
And by the way, it didn't fix as far as I can tell.
EDIT: It did, never mind.

Well, it's not certainly a common language. No count of it's speakers is kept, except for the fact only 12 people speak it fluently, according to an authority of the language.
But localization in an open, community-driven project like Scratch and pretty much all free/libre/open source software, is decided by the software's users. Nathan, if you are actually serious about this, happen to have a near-native (or equivalently fluent) grasp of the Klingon language, and are willing to translate nearly 3000 words across both versions and this website, or happen to know someone who meets all said requirements, feel free to contact the translation team at translate@scratch.mit.edu about this.
I've seen software being translated to other uncommon languages such as Interlingua and Esperanto (though these serve an actual purpose - being candidates to an universal language)

First of all, you said A authority. Just one. I happen to know about 55 words, the languages syntax, and a bit about how it was developed. Second, you certainly don't take me seriously. (And FYI, I will be contacting the scratch team.) Finally, although I didn't state this before, the main goal is to translate scratch to Klingon, but another is to show others how to translate scratch into their own language. Good try though!

I said “an” authority, just one, and I can assure everything in that post was 100% serious. c:

Yea Yea Yea… Oh well. I emailed the translation team, so hopefully I'll be getting results soon. The scratch team seems to be ignoring me though, and I bet I'm notorious with them. “That kid just keeps buggin' us about stuff! Will he ever quit?”

Since I didn't have much to do, I translated scratch into Klingon. At the moment it's at a stage I call geekling, most words that weren't translateable or I didn't have time to change are, at the moment, in Spanish. Thanks for the support. NOT!
Here is the link po file
that's the kl.po file, and right now, just for 1.4.
