If a user's age is below, let's say 11, then the site should hide projects or content that isn't kid-friendly. That way projects would not be so restricted to a lack of violence.

No. Scratch was designed for kids.

If a project or any content on the site isn't kid-friendly, be sure to report it (and give a reason for the report)! Also read the community guidelines.

Reporting to be moved to the Suggestions area (and closed).

You can actually make projects containing somewhat violent content, they will be marked as “Not For Everyone” so that they don't show up on the front page where kids can see them.

Perhaps younger users shouldn't be able to see projects marked NFE, or a warning should be displayed?

Projects that are too violent or disturbing are marked as NFE so that kids are less likely to see them, so this is kind of already implemented.

Support for a warning on NFE projects. No support for dividing the site.

Support, mostly for me to be able to make content considered “2Edgy” and MLG parodies and stuff without getting banned like I do every 2 weeks.

Yeah… Scratch was made for all ages, and anything that is not kid appropriate will be removed…

Sorry… Cant support because it is implemented…

But what's the point? 99.9% of the projects on Scratch are appropriate!

No support. This will only cause misconceptions that you're allowed to post inappropriate content on Scratch and that it just will have a warning.

I'm pretty sure Eggscope Simulator got marked as NFE, just because it had some slight references to some things, along with the egg launcher probably being classified as a gun. (Guns, AFAIK, are allowed in NFE projects, just no violence. ie, MLG quickscoping is allowed, but not actual gun violence)

But aren't guns inappropriate? At least on Scratch?

We're thinking about something like this, but this idea is only being floated around for the upcoming student/educator account system where the teacher may not want NFE'd projects accessible to their students at all. You guys won't be affected.

The reasoning of applying this idea to the student/teacher accounts but not necessarily normal accounts is the issue on what some will consider to be okay for kids on the Scratch website - that line is more conservative-heavy in the classroom environment, but not so much outside of the classroom environment where the position of this line can vary between different cultures and backgrounds.

The tricky part would be trying to figure out what happens if someone with a student account makes a project that ends up being NFE'd that would cause it to be unviewable by their classmates and teacher, a big issue especially if the project is part of a classroom assignment.

Just no.

As someone said above, scratch is for kids!
This site is not designed for old people- it is for young ones!
