Remixing!
Is there a project that think is missing something? Maybe it needs more skins, or is too easy? Remix it! Add what you think it needs! This is one of the easiest ways to get an idea. Scroll around and something's bound to pop up you think you could add on to. If you're a beginner (or advanced!), try a starter project. They're a great way to get an idea.

Things you've seen!
How you ever seen something and thought ‘WOW’? I bet you have! There is a simple idea. Make a game where the players have to find this thing, or an animation about a character investigating it! Perhaps make an informational project about this thing! This is where the seed of an idea comes in. Then all you have to do is water the seed with a little bit of imagination, and you've got yourself a winning idea!

Recreate something!
Is there a game you LOVE? Recreate it! If you LOVE playing Pac-Man, for example, recreate it! Once you have the basics, you can add your own twists. Or, if you like a bigger, more complicated game, like Mario, you can create your favorite part! If all of this seems complicated, you can create a skin creator for the game, or fanart!
