When importing a sound file remove all metadata
When importing a sound file remove all metadata! You can write a desc of the file in there but people could use this to write inappropiate stuff and when you download the file it will be visible.

So like a sound file .mp3 and .mp4 at least have a way of writing text into them - so called metadata. With a program you can edit those and for example enter an author, track number etc and then that will be stored inside the mp3 file. However, this is an ideal way of writing inappropiate things and when you download the file and see the desc it says something very bad. I don't understand.

Kind of a good idea, but new scratchers may find it confusing.

I get what you are saying and metadata text is not in any way interpreted by the Scratch editor but that does not make it more appropiate. Kind of a good idea, but new scratchers may find it confusing.

How would it be confusing? It wouldn't even show anything, all that's happening is that Scratch would remove data from the file when you import it, nothing would even show up or visibly change. Kind of a good idea, but new scratchers may find it confusing.

It wouldn’t be confusing because they wouldn’t know it ever had any in the first place. Kind of a good idea, but new scratchers may find it confusing.
Also, support. Since I don’t really look at the metadata, I’m not affected, but I’m sure it would be better anyways.

New scratches ain’t gonna find everything confusing. And were you confused by SSH before finding out what it was? Kind of a good idea, but new scratchers may find it confusing.

One thing I’d say is that composer and copyright data should stay, as to help prevent possible copyright issues. However, these would be more so edge cases, typically, copyright issues shouldn’t arise from a Scratch project.
Most users i know wouldn’t download Scratch projects, and even fewer would pay attention to Metadata. And many people don’t truly understand how to edit metadata, which would offset the issue due to the amount of people who would instead download audio off of other sites.

Yeah but a lot of ppl don't check the metadata anyway and also you should already give more obvious credit in the credits box for projects. Also, non free music shall not be uploaded in the first place.New scratches ain’t gonna find everything confusing. And were you confused by SSH before finding out what it was? How do we confirm that abusing Metadata is common enough to warrant this anyways?
