make it vertical and mobile-friendly forced. engagement on scratch will rise, and there will be many more hours spent, meaning if you display ads and use display:none; you could get tons of money!
i was explaining how to cheat money by using CSS to hide ads so that you can get money without showing ads
bump, nonprofits need to use this method to gain profits without forcing people to see ads
that's… not how ads work. Do you even know how CSS works? And this will make the government angry.
why would they be angry?

just do style=“display:none;” on the ad element and hide it and still make the profits
Because you'd be cheating people out of money by doing that.

I think it's just pretty simple to scroll through the explore page, there are plenty of projects you can find on there.

Also, as said previously, this makes Scratch feel more like a social media of sorts, which is not the main point of the platform.

It's not intended to be a social media, although I can agree there are a few features (such as loves and favourites and whatnot) that give the impression that it is

My friend has this idea for scratch where you can scroll through quick scratch games and animations like you can in YouTube shorts. Personally, I think this idea is questionable, but I also think it would be cool!
Support, I think the name Scratch Reels is better.

Why does Scratch need this? Scratch isn't like Instagram or YouTube, where the companies behind those apps want you to stay on their apps for as long as possible. Scratch is about learning how to code and meeting people. How would Scratch Shorts help towards this goal?

I just made design https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/projects/1134127210

I think this would just add to the pit of ever-growing short form content (1.), and i think that people have been asking for MORE space and not less space

I dont even know where to start with this suggestion. Starting off, why? just search up shorts in the search bar and bam problem solved. two how would this help the platform? 3, i dont think ST has the funds and manpower to make that work.

Alright lets pretend ST did that… …It literally defeats the entire purpose of an ad. companies pay the company they want to have the product advertised too, the point of an ad is that people see it and maybe buy it. Which defeats the entire purpose of an ad. its actually completely plausable to make a case that doing that would be considered just straight up fraud, which is illegal. because companies are throwing money into the abyss thinking that people might see their product when the advertisement is just straight up invisible.

No ScratchShort please.
Scatch isn't a video site.

I think you're misunderstanding the suggestion, it's not displaying videos (unless an animation project comes up), more so fast paced projects.

there can be a “create short” button that opens up a new version of the editor and shorts have their own ids /shorts/id and it has different things like the project is vertical and there are no key sensing buttons because well why would you need them for mobile friendliness amirite?

Support. Sadly i dont think this will get added as this does not coincide with the vision of Scratch but we can dream with it.

On Google Adsense's policies for modifying ads:
Some AdSense code modifications are not permitted. Learn about acceptable ad code modifications and what to avoid when implementing your code.

Techniques to avoid

Here are some techniques you’ll want to avoid:
  • Hiding ad units at anytime (e.g., display:none), unless you're implementing a responsive ad unit.
Not to mention, Scratch has absolutely no intention on using monetary ads. That is rejected

This would kinda suck because scratch is the few websites left that doesn't trap users with the infinite scroll thing.

how is it trapping?
i know i have a higher chance of being reported because im on the forums while i say this, but
the endless scroll is awesome because you can stay in it as long as you wish, and you can quit at any time. theres nothing you will miss out on, and theres everything ahead of you.
its also a sucsessful strategy for the companies who use it, so this is probably one of the best things scratch could do for its community

actually you code code a video with pen so not videos, images then when they are “recording” the image the server tracks the x and y pos of the pen as a cloud variable, its like griffpatchs multiplayer games!
