the crazy chasm!
for the scavenger hunt, i meant that we could have something like we have campers travel to other cabins and complete an in-cabin activity in that cabin, pr some other task that is already in the cabin description ^^ I say this instead of the usual “camper travels to another cabin and gets a task from one of the leaders in the comments” because it can be hard to predict if other leaders will be active at just the right moment to give our campers tasks ^^
another idea i just had for the scavenger hunt: i once participated in a fun easter egg hunt on scratch projects for TFCRP :eyes: it basically consisted of one person commenting “easter eggs” on random projects and studios related to TFCRP, and whoever found the most easter eggs got a prize in the end :eyes: we could have something similar where we put comments in random cabins and projects (with the leaders' permission), and have our campers try to find them all
just a random idea I had
as for the weekly goal thingy, hmm, i don't know if it might be too much to have both a writing goal and an activity/puzzle thing every week  you've led more cabins than i have though, so if you think it would go well, we could go for it!
as for qotds, i think we should do them!
here are some i've brainstormed to start getting our list together:
What's a crazy dream you've had recently?
What are you currently obsessed with? This could be a hobby, new fandom, or catchy song!
What writing projects are you currently working on?
We could do aotds as well, though they might be a bit harder to brainstorm… maybe bidaily activities? that would give us less to have to come up with and make it less stressful to complete :eyes:
i think we should do a cabin guide as well ^^ something explaining how SWC works is immensely helpful for new campers, and i always feel like it's a nice way to start getting into the cabin spirit
perhaps something along the lines of:
Introduction
it's been a while since i've made a cabin guide SKSKKS let me know if there's anythjng you think we should change <3

also some more random objects ✨️
A low creaking rings through the fog, and you look up to see a pirate ship sailing upside-down above you…
Rain pours horizontally through the air, drenching your left side… gravity works differently here…
As you wander, you come across a strange, enormous tree with leaves on its roots and a bare trunk that stretches into the sky…

I forgot about that <3 maybe we do one writing prompt and one scavenger hunt? So two weeks for preparing to do the main quests, and 2 weeks doing them (aka a writing prompt and scavenger hunt)?
I like the idea of comments in cabins for random easter eggs! but would that mean we would have to consistently comment in the cabins we put the easter eggs in, because unless someone part of that cabin commented the easter egg, I would assume it would be easy for our campers to just keep scrolling until they found our comment?
bi-daily activities sound cool! so they should be more writing based, right?
I'll start working on the cabin guide in the canvas, and then add on to the qotds!

Yeah that sounds good! you make a good point! I forgot about that <3 maybe we do one writing prompt and one scavenger hunt? So two weeks for preparing to do the main quests, and 2 weeks doing them (aka a writing prompt and scavenger hunt)?

So basically:
Week 1: Do enough weeklies and dailies/personal goals to reach the threshold
Week 2: Same as week 1?
Week 3: Scavenger hunt :DDDD (might be better to put it here to break things up before people get too burnt out at the end of camp)
Week 4: Writing prompt ^^ (maybe the collaborative story RP :eyes: )
Hmm, when I did that easter egg hunt, it was mostly one person commenting the easter eggs, but they were spread over maybe hundreds of possible projects and studios related to TFCRP ^^ maybe we could choose random projects and studios from this and past sessions of SWC, so campers would have more to comb through :D another thing that they did was release the easter eggs in waves, so you'd have to keep checking to see if an easter egg popped up where it hadn't been before I like the idea of comments in cabins for random easter eggs! but would that mean we would have to consistently comment in the cabins we put the easter eggs in, because unless someone part of that cabin commented the easter egg, I would assume it would be easy for our campers to just keep scrolling until they found our comment?
Yeah! We could model them after short prompts of exploring Bi-fi and abstractness and slipstream like you said  splitting that up into bi-dailies rather than a week's project might actually be more manageable and let us explore more topics bi-daily activities sound cool! so they should be more writing based, right?

Sounds good! <3 I'll take a look and see if I can help out when I have a chance! I'll start working on the cabin guide in the canvas, and then add on to the qotds!

Yeah! We could model them after short prompts of exploring Bi-fi and abstractness and slipstream like you said  splitting that up into bi-dailies rather than a week's project might actually be more manageable and let us explore more topics
here are some ideas for the bi-dailies:
For this bi-daily we will be focused on the confusion that genres like bi-fi and slipstream produce, not only in the characters and the world created, but in the reader themselves. It is key to be vague, but not too vague in the fact that the reader can't make a sense of what's happening at all. You should have a good outline of what your story will be like, but try your best to omit specific details that aren't necessary in this genre, and try to make it crazy! It's not realistic fiction, so you can do whatever you want with it <3 Plan out an outline of a story in which the world hides how it works to the reader and main character in a way that keeps them asking more questions. Try your best to not reveal any specific details! Write at least 500 words to consider this a goal completed!
Also maybe instead of bi-dailies, we could extend them, maybe 4 days and make them goals so they're more of a long term project but not as long as a week?

Hmm, I think that in the easter egg hunt I did, they had about 30 easter eggs? we might want to decide how many easter eggs to do based on how many people we can get permission from  that sounds cool! so if we're going to do it through the process of a week, maybe two waves would be the best at maximum? in your experience, how many easter eggs should we have?
ooooh that looks amazing! :D hmm, you're right, if we want to use longer prompts, we should probably give more time to complete them  or maybe we could do smaller exploratory activities like brainstorming and experimenting with word choice, settings, etc. for the bidailies, and use prompts like yours for weekly writing prompts  here are some ideas for the bi-dailies:
snippety snip em's epicsauce
Also maybe instead of bi-dailies, we could extend them, maybe 4 days and make them goals so they're more of a long term project but not as long as a week?
for example, we could make it an option to complete the in-cabin weekly to help reach our threshold for week 1 or 2 ^^
just a thought though, and I'm totally fine with going with four-day projects if you want to stick with it! :D
oooh slay! i took a look at the cabin guide thumbnail and I really like it! I think I might make a copy where I adjust the contrast a bit to make the words clearer if that's alright <3 I did a draft of the cabin guide thumbnail, what do you guys think? Hmm, I think that in the easter egg hunt I did, they had about 30 easter eggs? we might want to decide how many easter eggs to do based on how many people we can get permission from
would we need permission for easter eggs in studios and projects? since you said that we should probably spread the clues throughout a lot of the sessions of swc, it might be hard to get permission from people who are inactive now, or are we going to specifically choose projects and studios that were created by people still active?
it's your preference for an in-cabin weekly, or 4-day activity! But yes, I think it would be great for us to include whatever it will be as a goal!
maybe the first goal is more daily orientated, along with word wars?
so basically the first goal to get to week 2 is something like: complete 18 dailies and 5 word wars along with answering 20 question of the days?
and then the second goal to get to week 3 is something like: complete 5 weeklies, 5 dailies, finished 5 in-cabin activities, something like that?

hmm, that's a good question. I think that we should probably get permission from people that are participating in this session ^^ As for past projects and studios, I don't think we need permission to post in past cabins or main cabins, but we might want to ask people before putting easter eggs on their projects in case they might not like their messages suddenly being spammed by SWCers saying they found the easter egg SKKS would we need permission for easter eggs in studios and projects? since you said that we should probably spread the clues throughout a lot of the sessions of swc, it might be hard to get permission from people who are inactive now, or are we going to specifically choose projects and studios that were created by people still active?
also we should probably come up with another name than easter eggs  or we could just keep calling them easter eggs because it fits our randomness vibe XD
oooh that sounds good! one caveat is I believe that word wars usually don't start until the 5th day of the month, so we might just want to have it be composed of dailies and qotds <3 so basically the first goal to get to week 2 is something like: complete 18 dailies and 5 word wars along with answering 20 question of the days?
and then the second goal to get to week 3 is something like: complete 5 weeklies, 5 dailies, finished 5 in-cabin activities, something like that?
if we're making the scavenger hunt week 2, then this for week 3 sounds good! :D

worked on and finished most of the stuff in the cabin guide:
Introduction
Welcome to SWC:
Hello and welcome to the chasm! We're so excited to have you here through the month, and we know it's going to be a whirlwind with you here <3 This is the start of so many memories to come, and it's just an incredible honor to have you guys here in SWC with us! We hope you'll have a great time, and we promise you won't regret joining bi-fi!
Meet the leaders:
Your leaders for this session are Em (@iinspirqtion), Wari (@penguin-vibes), and Wild (-WildClan-)! If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of us about them <3 (should we include an introduction here for all of us, or is that just not necessary? I was also thinking about maybe combining the welcome to swc part with this one as both of them aren't too long)
Writing
Your word goal and words = points: At the start of each session, every participant sets a word goal for themselves. It can be small, it can be large, it doesn't matter! As long as it is a goal for you to reach, it can be as realistic, or unrealistic (but make sure that you will be able to try and reach it) as possible! Every word that you write counts as points for cabin rankings at the end of the session, the conversion being 1 word is 1 point. So don't worry if you aren't able to do the dailies, weeklies, etc. (we'll get to those later on) because you can still contribute to the competitiveness by just writing!
What does and doesn't count for words:
Though we'd like to think that all words can count as words to your word goal and cabin points, unfortunately, that isn't the case. For your words to be counted, they must be using your original ideas, which means that you can't count words by copying down notes, translating, etc., and along with that, text-based coding will not count because that is in the realm of coding, not writing <3 Texting and commenting do not count because they are very similar to speaking, just in a digitally based format. Everything else does though, from journaling to venting to roleplaying to non-fiction writing! We'll be linking the mega thread in the description with a more detailed guide on what counts and doesn't, but you should be able to get the gist of it from this!
Adding words:
Different cabins have different ways of adding words. For bi-fi, we have our own adding studio, called the Secondary World, which will be linked in the description. You should've also received a curator invite to it so you can easily access it <3 in there, all you need to do is comment on the amount of words you want to add, along with a general idea of where you got those words from, and if possible a link to your piece so we can tell that you really did write it! If you are unable to, that is fine, but we may ask for proof if you are adding an unreasonable amount of words.
Word adding limits:
To prevent any words being added that might've been made up, you are only allowed to add 10k words a day. We understand that some people may write more than that occasionally, so any words that you want to add but can't because of the cap end up in your reserves, which then you can add back up on the following days for however long you need to.
Main Cabin:
The main cabin is the main hub of the camp, where campers and leaders from all cabins meet up and talk! This is the best place if you want to hang out with lots of people, and though it's less tight-knit than everyone's own cabins, it's a great place to meet amazing people and talk with each other! It's also the place where all information pertaining to the camp will be released, so it would be smart to follow the studio, which will be linked! The current daily, and weekly, leaderboards, cabins, and important links will all be there for you to peruse and use whenever you need <3
Dailies:
Dailies are one of the many ways where you can earn points for your cabin along with writing and having fun! They are prompts given to you to write about to earn points for your cabin. They update each day at 12:00 AM UTC, and each daily varies on the prompt, required words, and points you can earn for your cabin. They are a great way to get in some writing that day, especially since they give some points to your cabin, but you are not required to do any of these, it's up to you if you want to!
Weeklies:
Weeklies are another way you can earn points, and again, they are not required, but they're a very fun and creative way to exercise your writing skills. They update every week at 12:00 AM UTC, so they're more of a long-term project than a daily, but they offer more points! Each weekly will have its own theme and workshops, teaching you how to write for the required prompts, one example is having a mystery weekly, and a workshop teaching you how to create red herrings, and then one part of the weekly asks you to write a list of red herrings for your story for at least 300 words.
Word wars:
Word wars are a fun way that you can compete with people from other cabins by writing! In a project that is usually posted early into the session, you can compete with other people to see how many words you can write in a certain amount of time that you can choose with your partner. You both earn points for your cabin no matter who wins or loses, but the winner will earn more, so it's always great motivation to do writing sprints!
Critiquitaire:
The Critiquitaire is a project that releases in the middle of the session that offers to help anyone looking for critique! Simply put down the piece you want to be critiqued and a general gist of what areas you want improvement on, and a person will comment back with their own piece! You will switch pieces, critiquing each other, and then eventually sending each other the critique while also being able to earn points from how much you wrote in your critique! It's a great way to improve on your pieces, and it's always nice to read the works of others because it can help us improve <3
Cabin wars:
Happening twice every session on the second and fourth Saturday, cabin wars are an annual tradition! It counts as a daily, so during cabin wars there is no daily. During cabin wars, various cabins war each other, and based on cabin relations, they can try their best to war their enemies, and be nice to their allies! For bi-fi, we are neutral with everyone, meaning that you're free to war whoever you like <3 there will be a link posted in the main cabin with a set of more specific rules and wars that you can copy and paste, so make sure to look out for them when the time comes!
Bi-Fi
What is Bizarro Fiction?
Bi-fi is a genre that is more rare in literature, but focuses on the zany, surreal, weird and entertaining <3 Just like the genre, the bi-fi chasm focuses on the random and surprising parts of life, and we're trying to incorporate that into the cabin! Throughout the session you'll experience fun and excitement, and sometimes little tidbits of craziness, and that's exactly the point of bi-fi. We hope you have fun here!

maybe we could call them eggs of randomness? XD if not then we can just keep the easter eggs!
so for the current projects and cabins, we should probably not do the main cabin or the last cabin because they can get buried pretty quick, so anything after that should be fine? should we ask for volunteers?
complete 22 dailies and answering 22 question of the days
is this good? the random number is a bit random but you know that kind of is our brand-

wow this is amazing :star_struck: you got that done really fast :0 snip cabin guide
and hmm profile banners could be fun, but they might also be a bit of work :'D same for forum signatures ^^ although for forum signatures we could just make a generic bi-fi chasm banner without personalizations so everyone can use the same one <3
eggs of randomness sounds great XD and yeah, not posting in the main cabin makes sense since it can get quite buried :'D for that matter, that could be an issue with most of the cabins this session, hmm. maybe we could ask them to put a symbol or secret message in the description to replace the egg of randomness in the comments?
I think we should ask if anyone would be comfortable with us putting comments on their SWC-related projects and studios for a scavenger hunt <3 they could comment on your profile or something and we could start putting together a list of locations

as for the first goal, 22 makes me think of the taylor swift song so i'm onboard XD
tomorrow i'll try to help put the cabin guide text into the canva and also get started on making the spreadsheet a bit fancier <3

OH MY GOD GUYS I'M SORRY I'VE BEEN GONE FOR SO LONG– The downstairs portion of my house flooded due to unexpected issues with the plumbing and I've only just gotten access to my normal stuff again ;__; It's been a nightmare trying to clean everything up, though thankfully most of my stuff escaped the damage. I'll try to catch up here as soon as possible, though; I should be able to return to normal activity levels within the week. Hhhhh I feel bad for just disappearing but it happened so suddenly–

the crazy chasm!
Hey Wild no worries <333 that sounds really scary, and i'm glad you still have most of your stuff :') OH MY GOD GUYS I'M SORRY I'VE BEEN GONE FOR SO LONG– The downstairs portion of my house flooded due to unexpected issues with the plumbing and I've only just gotten access to my normal stuff again ;__; It's been a nightmare trying to clean everything up, though thankfully most of my stuff escaped the damage. I'll try to catch up here as soon as possible, though; I should be able to return to normal activity levels within the week. Hhhhh I feel bad for just disappearing but it happened so suddenly–
Great! :D I'll try to make a list of projects and studios we could use <3 here's a list of the people that have offered (so we can have basically this amount of eggs of randomness for the scavenger hunt!)
I love them, they're so pretty! :DDD maybe we can add some more backgrounds to spice things up, but I think the design, text placement, and overlaying graphics look great! <33 I finished a draft of the banners, what do you guys think of them?
i'll get started on a potential design for the cabin guide now <3
i'll also try to get the spreadsheet functional before camp starts ^^
also, i had an idea of a simpler design for matching pfps. what if we used 3D objects like duodecahodrons or rhombic dodecahedrons? we could make the sides varying colors and combine it with different background effects to make them customizable :eyes:

I saw that you made some edits to the banners, they look amazing! I think they would work pretty well, if it's alright with you guys I think it could be the final edit!
I also really like the cabin guide design too!
honestly the idea of the pfps is also really cool, is it something similar to what you have to your pfp except that it's more of a combination of shapes I assume?
