(Scratch Cat returns to searching, with a frown plastered on his face. We then return to Pico and Tera on their hunt for Giga.)
PICO: Hello-o!!! Anybody out here?
TERA: Stop disturbing the animals.
PICO: What animals? They’ve all probably been wiped away. And we have to find our friends!
TERA: Let's just keep looking. I'm sure we'll find her.
(Tera and Pico come across a rundown headstone, with someone lying under it, but Tera does not notice.)
PICO: Hey Tera! Look! It’s Nano
TERA: What?!
(Tera turns around and sees Pico pointing at Nano beneath the headstone.)
TERA: Nano!
(Tera runs over and shakes him subtly.)
NANO:
TERA: Are you okay?
(Tera notices a big bruise on his head, no blood of course.)
TERA: Oh my.
NANO:
TERA: He’s hurt, we have to take him to the hospital!
PICO: But the About Town hospital is so far back. He needs help now!
TERA: We can try visiting that village out there. Maybe they can help us.
(Tera points down the forest path that leads to a rural community far outside of town. This is a reference to how New Scratchers cannot chat in forums, and likely haven’t spoken to many others, so they’re very isolated. They nod, pick up Nano and head down the path, finally arriving.)
PICO: Huh. Weird.
(The place is desolate, just like About Town, but seemingly worse. Windows are cracked, and sand is mounded around homes. Wide plains stretch across, growing wild list items with blooming variables. They come across a big farmhouse of a Scratcher. They notice an empty mailbox.)
TERA: (reading mailbox) “scratchcode1_2_3’s String and Boolean Farm?”
PICO: Knock on his door. See if he’s… alive.
(The movie cuts to Gobo on his way to the hospital.)
GOBO: “You’re such a big joke, and I’m ten times smarter than you. Books and blah, blah, blah!”
(Gobo has his arms crossed and isn’t paying attention and suddenly trips on a random brick. He suddenly opens his eyes to see what he was making fun of.)
GOBO: (looking around sadly) Maybe Scratchy was right. This place is a mess.
GOBO: I hope all of these people are okay.
(He walks over to the hospital, who boarded up the front glass doors. He realizes he’ll have to find another way in, and begins to circle around the building to a locked metal door that he knocks on.)
GOBO: Hey! Open up! I need in here fast!
(A nurse inside unlocks the door, but he doesn’t even say hello.)
NURSE: Hello. Are you hurt?
GOBO: No, but my friends might be? Do you know if you have someone named Giga? Short, kinda red, obsessed with fashion?
NURSE: I’m… not sure. If you’d like you can check with the receptionist.
GOBO: Thanks… (reading nametag) MrMcCoder?
NURSE: You’re welcome.
(Gobo awkwardly walks by and heads to the reception desk. He meets the receptionist, but he’s using a… typewriter!)
GOBO: Hello, sir. I’d like to ask if you have a patient named Giga.
(The receptionist peers over with old looking glasses and a nametag that reads “TheAutocorrectingCat”.)
RECEPTIONIST: Hello young man. What can I help you with?
GOBO: I said I wanted to ask if you had a patient here named Giga.
RECEPTIONIST: Let’s see if I have him in my binder.
GOBO: It’s she…
(The receptionist doesn’t hear this and pulls out a giant binder full of yellowy pages. A funny insert is if one page is a peace accords from several hundred years ago, but this is of course optional. Time passes, and Gobo eventually falls asleep.)
RECEPTIONIST: I’m sorry son, I don’t have anybody named Giga checking in.
GOBO: Thanks anyways… (reading nametag) “TheAutocorrectingCat”
GOBO: (leaving, and mumbling) What a day for stupid names. // In no way am I making fun of the people behind the accounts of these cameos, this is merely a shot at humor.
SCRATCH CAT: What a moron. Can’t stop his jokes even for Giga. He’s so full of himself…
SCRATCH CAT: (Notices maroon fur in a pile of rubble across a street) Wait… Giga!?
(Scratch Cat excitedly runs over to the pile and takes off some of the rocks and bricks off what he presumed to be her.)
SCRATCH CAT: Yes! Giga!
(He pulls her out of the pile, begins to clear her face of the rocky dust. Giga begins to open her eyes.)
GIGA: (weary) Scratch Cat? Is that-
SCRATCH CAT: Yes, it’s me. I’m so happy you’re alive!
(Scratch Cat embraces her)
GIGA: The storm… what happened?
SCRATCH CAT: We heard you fly off in the thick of the storm. We thought you died.
GIGA: “We?” What do you mean, “We?”
SCRATCH CAT: Me and the… (trails off)
(Scratch Cat remembers what happened and how the group split, but mostly what happened with Gobo. Giga tediously gets back on her feet, coughing and very unbalanced.)
SCRATCH CAT: We split up to find you. I don’t know where Pico, Tera or Gobo is.
GIGA: We should find them and tell them you found me. Then we should help (pause to look around) clean up this place.
SCRATCH CAT: The best thing for you is to get to the hospital.
(Scratch Cat realizes that Gobo will be there, and they aren’t on speaking terms. He changes plans.)
SCRATCH CAT: But if you’d want to find them first, we should.
(Giga stumbles and nearly falls and is caught by Scratch Cat.)
GIGA: Maybe it is in my best interest to get to the hospital.
SCRATCH CAT: We can’t go there now. It’s… too crowded.
GIGA: It’s not safe at all out here. It doesn’t matter.
SCRATCH CAT: Look, we just can’t. Me and Gobo… Me and Gobo-
GIGA: C’mon, spit it out!
SCRATCH CAT: Me and Gobo sort of had a falling out. We’re not on speaking terms, and he’s in the hospital.
GIGA: But you both have been friends, like, forever!
SCRATCH CAT: I know. But he needs to be more serious sometimes. Now is not the time or place to be making jokes.
GIGA: You have to be less serious sometimes Scratch Cat. It’s okay to just let go every once in a while.
SCRATCH CAT: But now is the time to be serious, not silly.
GIGA: If I’ve learned anything about Gobo in my life, it’s that he really does care about his friends. And you most of all. Just give him another chance. He would’ve done the same for you.
SCRATCH CAT: You’re right. We’ll go to the hospital.
GIGA: And make up with Gobo?
SCRATCH CAT: (nervous) Yes, I’ll make up with Gobo.
(They walk to the hospital, and we cut to Pico, Tera, and Nano.)
