Betrayal - A Short Story
Betrayal - A short Story
WARNING! THIS STORY IS DARK, SO BEWARE!
For people who like Thrillers, spooky stuff, and all spooky things, continue!
I walked along the cliffside, trying to spot a grave.
“Ugh” I said to my best friend, Emily. “We came
all the way here to see the grave of that girl
who was pushed off the cliff, only to see
NOTHING?”
She grunted in reply and pulled her pink
jacket closer to herself.
Emily had been oddly quiet the whole trip.
I shrugged. She was probably just mad
that I had booked the tickets with her
money.
With a sudden urge, I ran to the edge of the cliff,
leaving Emily behind with her slow walking,
and hollered the Hogwarts national theme.
Chuckling to myself, I went back to where I last saw
Emily. But I arrived to find no-one there.
At first I thought that she had just wandered off
somewhere, but as I kept searching and kept finding
nothing, I became more nervous.
“EMILY!” I yelled. “WHERE ARE YOU?” Only the wind
answered, cackling at my fear. I shivered. The
previously pretty landscape seemed terrifying now,
every step and hop fatal. Not to mention I kept
remembering the girl who had died here.
I called Emily's name a few
more times, each cry weaker and weaker with despair.
I spotted a rock that was not too far from the cliff-face,
so I headed over too it, and cried. I barely heard a voice
that sounded like Emily's over my great galloshing sobs.
Drying my eyes, I cautiously ventured toward the voice.
“Em? Is that you?”
She was hiding behind a rock a little ways away
from mine, her jacket easily noticeable against
the dull stone.
“Emily! Thank goodness you're safe. I was looking
all over for you!”
As I came closer, I heard what she was muttering.
“Should I? Should I not? Should I…. Should?”
“Ems? I asked her, freaked out now.
She jumped, as if only then she saw me.
”Whew, come on lets get out of here huh? Its..“
I trailed off as I saw she was holding a taser in her
right hand, the same colour as her jacket.
Emily slowly got up, and with a troubled
expression on her face, she started
advancing toward me, activating her taser as she
pushed me toward the cliff-face. I looked behind me and
saw the dizzying height of the cliff.
”Emily, what are you doing.“ I asked her, trying
desperately to keep my voice level.
She paused and looked behind her with a questioning
look on her face.
I looked too, but saw nothing but a haze of smoke,
which vanished instantly.
The person; thing! that was behind her must have
gave a signal or something, because Emily,
at that point, zapped me with the taser.
The shock of it unbalanced me, and I fell
Down
Down.
It felt like the whole world had slowed down.
I saw me and Emily as toddlers, making a
pact always to have our back. I saw Emily,
defending me against the mean boys at school
because I had got braces. I remembered all the times she
stood up for me, and all the times I stood up for her.
Faintly, as I was far down the cliff by then, I saw a ghost-like
figure, waving at me with a smile on her face. It was the same
face as the girl who had died here earlier.
Her voice was only slightly audible over Emily's screams as
she realized what she had done.
”My friend pushed me off here too, so I was forced too haunt this place forever.“
”Of course, that didn't stop me from getting the others too“
I saw Em's face, wet and distressed, staring at the ghost and then back to me, falling.
”Don't worry. She'll join you too"
I hope you enjoyed this! (I KNOW ITS DARK OK)
I'm working on another story as well! (ITS SECRETTT)
