time travel? I thought that was obvious, especially considering that's one of the core story components of the game? even I got that, and the only 06 related thing I've seen story-wise is the fandub.

With how time travel works in 06, time both goes in a loop and doesn't. Mephiles knows Shadow, and Shadow doesn't. We then see how Mephiles knows Shadow, when he goes back in time and seals him. Time goes in a loop in this situation, as Shadow always goes back in time to seal Mephiles, otherwise, Mephiles wouldn't be sealed in the first place.
However, later in the game, Sonic changes the past and saves Elise. Time doesn't go in a loop in this situation, as a different outcome is achieved.
Am I overthinking this, or what? What I just said makes perfect sense to me.

Personally, it goes:

1. Shadow Generations
   
2. SA2
   
3. Sonic Generations
   

Heroes' levels take too long, and I never feel like playing any of them besides the first four. I also don't like how you have to play the game three times with minor alterations and then a fourth time which is basically just Mission Mode.
Unleashed is good, but it's held back by resolution and frame rate a lot. I also hate the upgrades. And unlike SA2, there's no cheat in the mod manager to let you have all the upgrades from the start.
