Scratch on Windows 95 (isn't working)

Normally, no Scratch version will install on Windows 95 (except maybe pre-1.0 versions).
But Squeak 3 (what scratch 1.4 runs on) supports Windows 95.
The problem is that when I try with Squeak 3.5 or 3.9, it requires opengl32.dll.
When I try Squeak 3.0, it actually runs scratch, but the file dialog doesn't work (it pops up a squeak window saying “Message not understood: findTokens:”).
Yet with the exact same setup on Wine on my laptop (even when running directly from the exact CD I was using), it works perfectly, so it must be an issue specific to Windows 95.
Maybe i just need to run the installer on the Windows 95 computer (although i think i ran the Scratch 1.2 installer there at some point).
I'm using a regular Windows install of Scratch 1.4, if that helps.

OpenGL should be installed if the graphics card/driver supports it

I don't think Windows 95 comes with OpenGL.

are you using emulation software to emulate windows 95 or native hardware? if using emulation, make sure to use their drivers. the name of the drivers depends on which emulation software

From research, Scratch 1.x versions only support Windows 98 and above…

After looking at 1st post I would reccomend using legacy update.
Well, it does depend, what version of Windows 95 are you using?

I would prefer not to do anything to Windows itself.

Legacy Update (if i recall) is just a program that restores the “Windows Update” functionality. Unfortunately it doesn't work on Windows 95 but there's a different project that does called “Windows Update Restored” that does work on Windows 95

And how exactly would that help?

It could potentially fix up any issues that's scratch is having trying to launch. Many features that scratch 1.x version uses are in later versions of windows

I already said I didn't want to do anything to Windows, the point is to get Scratch working on Windows 95, not to update my computer.

Sadly, you will have to update to a newer version or a different version of Win95.
