Interesting facts about languages
Languages, find out which are the 50 most spoken languages in the world
There are more than 7,000 languages in the world, and most of them are dialects.
Cambodian has the longest alphabet, with 74 characters.
The Bible is the most translated book, followed by Pinocchio.
The word “alphabet” comes from the first two letters of the Greek alphabet – alpha and beta.
2,400 languages in the world are at risk of becoming extinct and about one language becomes extinct every two weeks.
The first printed book was in German.
Just 23 languages represent more than half of the world's population!
About two-thirds of all languages are from Asia and Africa.
At least half of the world's population is bilingual!
Many linguists believe that the language originated around 100,000 B.C.
South Africa has the most official languages, with 11.
The Florentine dialect was chosen as the national language of Italy. Most regions of Italy speak mainly their own dialect to this day.
There are about 24 official languages spoken throughout Europe.
On average, people use only a few hundred words in daily conversation, while most languages have over 50,000 words.
Other surprising facts about languages
The United States does not have an “official language.” Most people just assume it is English.
About 30% of English words come from French.
Spanish contains about 4,000 Arabic words.
Papua New Guinea has the most languages, with 840.
Italian is a minority language in Brazil.
The languages spoken in North Korea and South Korea are different.
The English language contains the most words, with over 250,000.
Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world.
Hawaiians have over 200 different words for “rain.”
Japanese uses three different writing systems: Kanji, Katakana, and Hiragana.
The United States has the second most Spanish speakers, after Mexico.

English related things belong in this forum.I have seen a high amount of things in this forum that should not be here so I decided to create this guide.
Here you should create threads for languages that are not listed in the menu at the end of this page. If your language is not listed there then your language should be in a thread in this forum. Check through the pages of this forum to see. If it is not there create a thread for your language. These threads are used to discuss scratch in different languages.
But read this guide before creating a thread:
What should I NOT post here?
1. Duplicate topics
If there is already a thread for your language do not post another. Looking through this forum I have found 9 discussions for the Irish language. Post in a thread that is already there if there is one already there. Even if the thread is five years old still use that one. Necroposting is ok in this forum. It is best to keep the conversation all in one place.
2. A language you made up
You might have made up your own language with your friend. Unfortunately, this is not a place to discuss a language you made up. It is for the convenience of non-English speakers. Please be respectful to them.
3. Spam
Spam does not go in any forum. Do not advertise your projects or blockspam. This forum is for the convenience of non-English speakers. Please be respectful to them.
4. Any language that already has its own forum
Go to the end of this page: https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/ . There is a list of languages that already have their own forum topic. If your language has its own forum use that.
5. Extinct languages
Please do not create a thread for an extinct language such as Latin. It will get closed down by a moderator
6. Fictional languages
Please do not create a thread for a fictional language such as Klingon. It will get closed down by a moderator.
7. Joke languages
You can set the language on the Scratch website to Edible Scratch and Meow. But these are just joke languages so please do not create a thread for them in this forum
8. English
Again, this forum for non-English speaking people. There is already a forum for the English language. (I know, this guide is in English)
9. Wingdings
Just don't.
So, if your language is breaking the rules above do not create a new thread for it. If it has passed the guidelines above it is probably safe to create a thread for it.
Thanks for reading!
Excuse me, but there is not an English forum.

wait does toki pona count as fictional? i sure hope not aa jan pi toki pona!! pona a :)
i am also kind of unclear on that rule lol. theres an esperanto thread and they seem fine; so i think it's a ban on conlangs that are from something, not in general… so tp is probably fine? i would like actual clarification on that rule though, if you're actually into conlangs it's pretty weirdly phrased lol

(#115)I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think toki pona is allowed here, since toki pona topics often get closed or moved to the Interests Beyond Scratch forums.
wait does toki pona count as fictional? i sure hope not
That probably applies to other constructed languages as well.
Esperanto is a notable exception, since Scratch already supports Esperanto, so it wouldn't make sense to exclude it from the Other Languages forum.
(Also, I agree with @BFDI1a-TakethePlunge here; the “Fictional languages” rule should really be clarified.)
