Scratch Linux Port
I know that there technically is a Linux port, but I need on without adobe air. For some reason, my computer can't run adobe air.

It should be possible. I'm using Scratch on Debian.
I'm using Google Chrome for the online version and also the offline editor works.
Look at my blog to see how to install Scratch (offline) on Debian (and that should work on Ubuntu too): link
I got confirmation that someone got it to work on Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04 and Xubuntu 13.04.

I'm starting with scratch and it runs ok under latest Debian testing, but I have problems with sound on Ubuntu 12.04.04 and Debian 7 Wheezy.
Scratch stops and show ‘Segmentation fault’ under Ubuntu 12.04.04 (I try with kernel 3.11.x and 3.8.x) when I try to reproduce the sound of the cat:
Executing: /usr/lib/squeak/4.4.7-2357/squeakvm -encoding UTF-8 -vm-display-x11 -plugins /usr/lib/scratch/plugins/
usr/lib/squeak/4.4.7-2357/ -vm-sound-pulse /usr/share/scratch/Scratch.image
Segmentation fault
10334304 in SoundPlayer class>playLoop
10323104 Semaphore>critical:
10323012 SoundPlayer class>playLoop
10334000 in SoundPlayer class>startPlayerProcessBufferSize:rate:stereo:
10334092 in BlockContext>newProcess
Abortado (`core' generado)
On Debian 7 Wheezy stable I can't listen the sound.

I have also no problems on a notebook running with Ubuntu 13.10. But I have read in other forums that the ALSA driver can cause trouble. I am facing that situation on my Raspberry Pi running with Wheezy.

Do you use ALSA for sound?
Sorry, my mistake…
I'm using PulseAudio and that works.

But you still can download Scratch 1.4 on the Ubuntu Software Center. Why can't they just update it to 2.0?

Scratch 2.0 is webbased, while 1.4 is a program that needs to be installed.

I can run adobe air in ubuntu. you need to download AdobeAIR.bin and make it executable then run it with the library gnome-keychain.
