Storyline Ideas

• I was initially thinking that we start in just a hiring background, and take tours to different realms to for each challenge + puzzle. I'm not entirely sure how this would work but maybe there is a battle of the bands event going on that is actually a cover for something much bigger. We hire the campers as a touring agency and they compete against different bands in each realm (?) to earn new fragments/clues as to what they real mystery is!
  

• MERCH! Ok so I know this isn't really /that/ related to the storyline- but I think it'd be super cool if campers coule create their own merch of some sort and have it (eg: on banners, forum signatures, or maybe those could be the pfp's?)

That sounds so cool - I love the idea of a BotB event to cover up something much bigger. Potentially while we’re part of the touring agency, we don’t actually know what’s going on - but I also love the idea of us being evil and scary hehe!

As for competitions against different bands, I was wondering if maybe the word count groups (If we’re going to do that) could be the different bands this session? Just an idea!

Ooooh I love the idea of meeting different musical artists! It would also be nice if campers could meet some of their “fans” as well (which could just be other swc leaders) so it feels like they have their own fandom as well!

Ooh for sure! I just listed those artists as examples - I initially had 11 realms in my app: pop, funk, country, instrumental music/classical, french beats, bollywood, musicals, k-pop, film soundtracks, edm/techno, and rock/synth beats - we obviosuly cannot and probably won't do all of these XD But what I mean is that we should definitely aim for variety to get something that everyone can like ;D

Yesss! Okay so the songs I’m mainly obsessed with right now are Something Just Like This by Coldplay & The Chainsmokers, Fireflies, Shooting Star, and To The Sky by Owl City, and No Reason by Ryan.B and effie (this is mandopop/c-pop but basically social media made me listen to it ✨✨) as well as Test Drive from the How To Train Your Dragon soundtrack (again this was social media’s fault XD) There’s also Superheroes by The Script on my “on repeat” playlist as well!

As for TS/Gracie songs I was thinking some songs from 1989 and The Secret of Us deluxe? It def fits into the pop vibe for that realm - especially as 1989 is such an iconic Taylor album and That’s So True is also such a popular Gracie song-

As for more obscure Taylor songs I’d probably reccomend Message in a Bottle (Red TV) - it’s literally one of my favourites ✨✨

okay so if i'm understanding correctly, the theme of fan fi is botb, but it's really just a distraction of sorts from a deeper mystery, and with each band/realm they compete in, campers earn more clues to solve the mystery! this sounds super cool, but what is the actual mystery :0 it is something to do with our theme or something else entirely? either way would be fun!

hi i love merch count me in <3 i love making pfps and whatnot, and i just got a super cool idea for those as i'm typing this (feel free to discuss it more, i haven't put too much thought into it xD)! maybe we do a pfp creator project, and with each realm we go into different types of pfps are unlocked? maybe different background that represent each realm, along with different accessories or designs?

i think it would be cool if we have activities for the campers in each realm that help them gain clues, but also separate “side quests” (like merch signing from a specific artist or a meet and greet with the design team etc), that aren't necessarily needed, but can be bought with currency by the campers and can help them earn additional clues. those would be an example of attending special activities ^^ I VOTE FOR INCLUDING MUSIC ARTISTS <3 MUSIC ARTIST INCLUSION CLUB <33 kind of like i said previously, we could easily find a way to work specific artists into our storyline by having those extra activities and/or maybe making those artists the bands they are competing against in each realm? (definitely loving the idea of gracie abrams and olivia, i'd also love to include hozier perhaps? :> can you tell i have an obsession ajfkhgsfdfskhl)

I wasn't really sure what the mystery would be, but I think it'd be cool if we could incorporate our music element to it! OOH OK wait so as I'm typing this, I'm thinking of a mix between Project MC^2 and Trolls World Tour..

What if each realm had a “heart” or string thing (the source of its energy –> we can figure out what we actually want this to be) and the tour is supposed to be a cover up for stealing it and stuff or smth along those lines. I honestly like the idea of each of us having our own band (word count studio) and competing against each other like that. It could definitely increase motivation and get some friendly competition going ;D

My only worry is that some groups might be inactive/have fewer people who are online and that might ruin the experience of people who want to actually participate with their group? It's just a thought to consider <3 We could also just have one big band (the whole cabin) and we “battle bands” in each realm + complete the challenges together. I'm fine with both

PEPPER PFP'S <3 Omgg yes! I definitely love the sound of this – unlocking new aspects would be so cool. Maybe kind of like Zai's Thriller Escape room cabin, campers could earn a new piece to add to their pfp's after each realm? Or we could just stick with new decorations + stuff because that's also very cool ;D

I also think it'd be nice if we could create a “success sticker” or something of that sort that can be adde to banners/forum signatures. Obviously these are smaller things, but it would definitely add to the overall experience <3

okayokayokay this might just be my brain being wild and quirky and what not but if we go for different word count groups as different bands, here are some of my suggestions!

Hmm.. yeah. Last session was the first session that I did a joined word count studio for all of the campers and I think it was honestly so much easier to see + track everyone's progress. I found that more than one can lead to a huge skew of inactivity since we typically sort by word counts (to level off adding) and not activity :thinking:

We could also perhaps have a single word count studio and then create groups after the first week passes so that we can get a more clearer idea of how activity looks like? Or we can proceed with our band (cabin) “battling” others :sparkles: @Pepper - thoughts ^^

OHHH I meant that the actual battle of the bands event across the realms are staged to cover this up. The campers are “good” and don't realize this until later in the session. The person stealing the cores could either be another leader or maybe even one of us >

OMGGG THAT'S SO COOL WHAT :0 Ok wait so here's an idea that we could perhaps look into to combine these things. Like you said, we could have three word count studios, but what about when they go to each realm, each group needs to provide at least 2 members to participate in that realm's challenge. If more people want to volunteer, thye absolutely can, but I think having a minimum number would be nice ;D My only worry again is that we can't reall guage activity and our best bet for now might be just planning something for the whole cabin?

OK NVM- scratch what I said above!

Hmm ok so we could make the plot go one of two ways:
a) Campers do not know that the hearts are being stolen during the first few realms, but when they realize, they have to take extra precautions to save the rest + figure out who's behind it

b) We hire them telling them that we need their help since there's a rumor that the realm “hearts” are getting stolen. I think this would be a cool way to introduce the storyline in our cabin description! And then we can combine your two ideas of campers having to perform on each stage + play music to sustain the realm. We could even phrase it as “we need to make sure that no one knows that we know ;D”

And I love the idea of being trapped in the music void if they don't save all of the realm hearts. Speaking of, what do we want to call them?

i loveee that :0 maybe we could have a few leaders come together to be part of some sort of “evil” band that competes in botb but is really their to slowly steal pieces of the core heart thinglydoo

i'm leaning towards this idea for wcgs but if we decide to have a third co we could just have two wcgs with two leaders managing each so their is more campers in each group and there will more likely be an equal amount of active participants in each group

hmm i'm not sure how that would work either? i feel like for those singing it would be easier because we could just come up with some lyrics and a general idea of how we want the song to go, but for instrument players we'd have to give them notes/chords/harmonies that all blend together nicely and i'd have to figure out how to transpose :skull: i love the idea we just might have to think on it a bit more!!

i think that just having one wcg would be best for activity levels and for the storyline. multiple bands in our cabin could be super fun and still work, but i think it'd be easier if we just have all the campers stick together and have them battle against our own made up bands (and it would encourage relationship building )

also, i'm leaning towards idea b more, i think it'd be a fun way to raise the stakes also ;D

maybe each music void has its own realm heart? but the reason someone is stealing all of them is because when they're joined together it creates something super duper powerful and dangerous? so the campers have to go to each realm and try to get clues from people in each realm to try to find the person stealing each heart and try to get them back and restore the hearts!

Alana - From musical realms to magic galore, Battle of the Bands is the final stop in this once-in-a-lifetime journey! You’ll learn to work with your teammates, boost confidence, and make it to the top!

Pepper - an immersive experience for semi competitive campers where they can create lasting memories and forge new relationships while having loads of fun throughout the session.

Skylar - A welcoming environment with lots of room for fun, chaos, and memories, as well as cabin bonding activities, with competition on the side.

Hmm ok so we could make the plot go one of two ways:
a) Campers do not know that the hearts are being stolen during the first few realms, but when they realize, they have to take extra precautions to save the rest + figure out who's behind it

b) We hire them telling them that we need their help since there's a rumor that the realm “hearts” are getting stolen. I think this would be a cool way to introduce the storyline in our cabin description! And then we can combine your two ideas of campers having to perform on each stage + play music to sustain the realm. We could even phrase it as “we need to make sure that no one knows that we know ;D”

And I love the idea of being trapped in the music void if they don't save all of the realm hearts. Speaking of, what do we want to call them?

maybe each music void has its own realm heart? but the reason someone is stealing all of them is because when they're joined together it creates something super duper powerful and dangerous? so the campers have to go to each realm and try to get clues from people in each realm to try to find the person stealing each heart and try to get them back and restore the hearts!

I also think it'd be nice if we could create a “success sticker” or something of that sort that can be adde to banners/forum signatures. Obviously these are smaller things, but it would definitely add to the overall experience <3

Okay - coming back to Pepper’s mention of Girl Scout badges, maybe we could turn the tour organisation into a Girl Scout-type event or something for the campers? Never really done any sort of scouting/guiding camps in the uk so don’t quite know how it works ahaha-

hmm i'm not sure how that would work either? i feel like for those singing it would be easier because we could just come up with some lyrics and a general idea of how we want the song to go, but for instrument players we'd have to give them notes/chords/harmonies that all blend together nicely and i'd have to figure out how to transpose :skull: i love the idea we just might have to think on it a bit more!!

We don’t have to be excessive and go out and give campers sheet music! What we could do is play the melody on one instrument (for example the piano) as campers could play that by ear (with note names as well for those who struggle to play it by ear) and also have chords for those doing piano/guitar/ukelele! We could then also introduce various harmony parts then as well, and we can give campers a backing track with a metronome to keep the recording on time (and save the amount of chopping I have to do when meting ahah)

For singing we can just give the main melodies and a few harmonies - I’m going to recommend either an SSAB or SSAAB arrangement with those who have lower voices singing a lower range since it’s harder to find people who can sing that low on Scratch, let alone in the cabin.

Someone would probably share a project containing all this info and campers are free to remix by the 25th March or something, at which point I could start the mixing process?

Oooh! This just gave me an idea XD Obviously they could be musicians, or band members, or something, but I was thinking maybe we could split it up into choir and orchestra/instrumentalists? (Again these are names but-) That way we could split the campers up into two teams of word count groups - so if we have four cos then they’ll both have two cos to do word counting, which means groups overall will be bigger? This is basically what happened when I went on music tour except pretty much everyone from choir also did orchestra

Hi guys! Just letting you all know that I’ll be less active than I’d like both this weekend (26th-27th January) and next weekend, starting on Friday (31st January-2nd February) due to a competition and an MUN conference, respectively. Both are local to me, and I’ll be sleeping in my home on both occasions - so I will have full access to Scratch, Canva, and The Internet in general!

There is nothing that needs to be changed about when and where you contact me - this forum, my profile, I’ll check it all! I’ll just be less able to participate in discussions over the next two weekends, so if there’s some serious discussion going on, go ahead and I’ll respond when I get time in the evenings.

I honestly really love this one!! Though, it could be nice if we could somehow find a way to tailor it more towards our storyline. I'll think about it, and come back to this in a bit ^^
