Combine Scratch and Scratch Jr
They’re both nearly identical, except accounts don’t exist. It’s a lot of hardwork if there are 2 separate websites so why not combine them?
1. Age differences, Scratch is more 6+ is Scratch Jr is for below 5 years old, basically for toddlers.
2. Takes a bit of time, more coding and moving coding ups difficult as there can be a mess.
3. The good thing is, there’s less effort when finished as it’s cheaper to keep maintenant
4. Still, Scratch servers can be slow with increased traffic.
This may get rejected, but it’s just a suggestion if you can.
Agree?
say [There’s practically several reasons why it shouldn’t be combined.]

Another reason they shouldn’t be merged is that young children less than 8 shouldn’t be interacting online. They don’t know adequate internet safety.

In the UK, children learn internet safety from that age.

But there are scratchers from the UK!

(#2)however in the uk they start teaching you online safety at 7 (so teaching online safety time depends on where you are)
Another reason they shouldn’t be merged is that young children less than 8 grade 3 shouldn’t be interacting online. They don’t know adequate internet safety.

People still forget. Or just don’t care. (About applying their safety skills)But there are scratchers from the UK!Most scratchers live in the US.Another reason they shouldn’t be merged is that young children less than 8 shouldn’t be interacting online. They don’t know adequate internet safety.

Why do we need to combine them? Scratch is for real coding, ScratchJR for little children.

Scratch already contains little children, ScratchJR is dead, kind of.

It's not, lots of schools use it. Why should there be more work for the scratch team? Why do we need to combine them? Scratch is for real coding, ScratchJR for little children.

nice suggestion, but since scratchjr will be combined, i think we need some changes to the scratch side first:
play sound [ v] until done :: extension // Sound blocks will be green now
hop (2) :: motion // IF THIS HAPPENS, WE NEED A HOP BLOCK. NO SERIOUSLY ITS FASTER THAN CODING A JUMP SCRIPT AND I KNOW WHAT YOUR THINKING
// HOW WE DO DAT WITHOUT GRAVITY WELL WE COULD ADD A GRAVITY SCRIPT AT THE END
go home :: motion // We need this block so we don’t have to type in the starting positions of the sprite anymore :D
set home :: motion // For the Scratch side you wouldn’t want sprites automatically going to the starting position with a click so we need to add this block

Good idea! But that’s going to take longer, you could just code where we could go to as home.
And also, gravity script is going to take forever to work.

They're not “nearly identical”, though. They're completely different pieces of software. If Scratch were to merge them, they would effectively be shutting down Scratch JR.
Also, Scratch is for all ages tmk, not 6+ - Scratch JR is 5-7 years.

Scratch is indeed for all ages, but it is still a place where users can chat and inappropriate content can be shared in some way. Children under 8 usually don’t understand how to handle that sort of stuff as well as older kids.Scratch is for all ages, Another reason they shouldn’t be merged is that young children less than 8 shouldn’t be interacting online. scratch jr is for toddlers, for the basics for coding. scratch is for 8+, more intermediate. im not saying that a 6 year old shouldn't be able to hop on scratch, or a 9 year old can't go on scratch jr. but scratch jr is for younger users and it would be weird having a 7 year old chatting with a middle schooler.

Yeah, no.
See, the reason why these are 2 separate sites are because you can openly access social media and dangers of the internet via Scratch. On ScratchJr, it's a site with just the coding blocks and the player (or whatever you call it). If we merge the two, then younger children on ScratchJr can access Scratch, which leads to social media and dangers of the internet. Additionally, ScratchJr doesn't require much moderation, if any.
If you want this suggestion to stay open, I suggest making a new topic about a ScratchJr UPDATE, not merging them.

The target demographic, the product, the codebase, and the platform supporting the product are all very different. I don't think it makes much sense.
