Verification marks for scratchers

If this suggestions, I understand that Scratch is for kids and not for adults and I also get that it isn’t social media.

say [But Scratch Team, you have something called “follow scratcher” , that means that it’s a kids social media platform.] for (2) secs
think [It will make no sense if verification mark doesn’t exist] for (2) secs
say [You know whats good with verification marks, if someone makes an account showing a fake celebrity or a fake company, verification mark is helpful for proof that they are real.] for (2) secs
wait until <My answer is accepted>
say [Notice: This is just for helpful, the catch is how will they get it? I do not want to tell just in case a scratcher will make a new account with a fake brand or celebrity username from these tips. Hope it helps.]

No support you can easily tell if someone is real or fake by using common logic

Fixing my coded post.

Basically what I mean is that there is something called “Follow scratcher” which is technically a social media platform for children and young teenagers. That is why I suggested a verification mark just in case some random scratcher/new scratcher fakes an account of a celebrity like Tom Holland or a company like Samsung. Let’s also not forget the fact that less accounts will be banned and more scratchers will know.

It is for helpful reasons, don’t take is seriously or don’t hate the idea. It’s just a suggestion that I want a member of Scratch Team to look at.

True! They need it, Griffpatch literally is real and there are fake versions of him not made by him like @grffpatch

I think the Scratcher status is enough to tell if someone is real or fake, it's unlikely that a bot would meet all of the requirements to become a Scratcher…

Not really, you could just spam projects, spam comments and not break community guidelines with anything. It’s not helpful. Even with email confirmation.

We don't need this since every username is unique, and its not a social platform.

Hello! Seems like your new to the forums. The forums are a place to discuss stuff about Scratch (and even stuff not related to Scratch if your posting ig in the right forum!) Your currently in the Suggestions forum, where people can suggest stuff to be added to Scratch. There are other forums too - such as which include Questions about Scratch and Help with Scripts. This suggestion is suggesting for verification marks to be added to Scratch celebrity profiles (such as which include Griffpatch). Have a nice time!

8.2 Add a rank above Scratcher or allow users to skip the New Scratcher status
There are three ranks: New Scratcher, Scratcher, and Scratch Team. The only reason the New Scratcher rank exists is to prevent spam, and since it only takes a few weeks to become a Scratcher, bullying and separation are rather minimal. Similarly, the Scratch Team rank exists so users know who is on the Scratch Team; note that Scratch Team members do not brag about the Scratch Team rank. In contrast, there may be division in the community between Scratchers and those with a higher rank, which could also lead to bragging and bullying. This also includes a “verified Scratcher” status where well-known Scratchers get a special symbol next to their name.
so this suggestion is rejected, the scratch team considered it before and decided that they won’t add it

Although the restrictions for New Scratchers may seem annoying, they are extremely effective against spam and inappropriate content. For New Scratchers who are wondering how to become a Scratcher or what it means to be one, check out this topic. The Scratch Team will not allow any accounts to “skip” the New Scratcher status, even if it is an alternate account of an existing account.

While we do allow for some method of chatting and following others, we're not really a social media platform, so we don't have a website design that allows for a verification system to be put in easily.

And truth be told, any account claiming to be a well-known person or organization would be pretty much suspected to be a fake because a majority of Scratch is under the age of 13 - which means anyone who signed up here for the sake out expanding their outreach and influence would very likely land the person or organization in a heap of trouble unless they were genuinely interested in Scratch programming. Of the only major accounts that would possibly benefit from a verification mark would be the one created by Cartoon Network (because we did a collaboration with at one point) and it would be quite silly to spend so much time and money on a verification system where only one entity would find useful.

Overall, given the relatively closed space that Scratch is in, it's easier to run under the assumption that an account is fake unless the person announced elsewhere through other official channels that they made an account on Scratch. (And please do flag accounts attempting to pretend to be famous, so the ST can take a look into it and block the account if necessary. “Be Honest” is a Community Guidelines rule after all).
