You can't even see the cloud monitors - they just don't load.

I honestly hope that they don't change servers again….
Last time that happened, all of the OLD projects cloud variables stayed broken, and so only the NEW projects cloud variables had worked. So if this scenario happens again, that just means MORE current cloud variable projects will stay broken over time, again and again…….. and again…..
I REALLY hope that this is something they can fix on all sides, and not just “another workaround for only a new generation of cloud based projects”..
It isn’t that bad tbh the worst that can happen is that you just need to rename vars no sweat

Cloud variables are currently broken, and all we can do is wait for them to be fixed.
Unfortunately, no one seems to know what's causing issues or when they will be fixed.
This affects everyone on Scratch, so the Scratch Team is aware of the situation.
Please continue using this topic to discuss issues with cloud data

Seems that Cloud Data is down again:
swee@peppermint:~$ ping clouddata.scratch.mit.eduDNS still exists, though:
ping: clouddata.scratch.mit.edu: Name or service not known
swee@peppermint:~$ dig clouddata.scratch.mit.edu

(#2087)this is probably a sign that they are reworking the cloud servers yet again…

I wish it doesn't happen again, do you mean that old cloud variables are like more than a year old?

I really hope that doesn't happen, because there's a lot of stuff which took a lot of time which needed cloud variables, so that would be a pain. Scratch REALLY needs to fix this.

Seems to be a DNS issue - clouddata.scratch.mit.edu (the scratch cloud server) points to d3tm0m070ovcf4.cloudfront.net, which has no IP assigned, so scratch can't access the cloud server. You might be able to directly use the old IP (with a proper Host header) to connect to the cloud server, but it's pointless because no one else will on it.

cloudfront.net belongs to Amazon CloudFront, so it may just be the cost exceeding their spending limit, etc.

The worst that can happen is that you spend hours debugging your code, can’t play other online games and rename the cloud variables in all of your projects.I honestly hope that they don't change servers again….

announcement, we deployed a new version of the Cloud Data server. Most of this is code reorganization, and some performance improvements, so there may be a few glitches in this new version. Please report in this thread if you face any glitches. Remember to include information about your operating system, browser, and a link to your project. As you may seen in today's
Also, I know that some people have reported slowdown of Cloud variable updates recently. Please report those here as well, especially if you used to get faster speeds, but now Cloud variable updates lag significantly.
[Updated 08/30/2013: Based on your reports, I fixed a bunch of problems. Thanks, and keep more of these reports coming in (still working on the glitches that have been already reported, and are still not fixed). For a list of what changed, check out this forum post: http://scratch.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/topic/14722/ ]
Note from Paddle2see - In February of 2018, an update was done to Cloud variables that limits the length of them to 256 characters, as well as a few other restrictions. Please see this post for more information. This should not be reported as a bug. Thanks!
