wouldn't this fall under multiple rejected suggestions about social media?

I just think liking comments is something that Scratch should already have. Of course, just like projects, there can’t be dislikes, but still. Maybe it could use the love/favorite system that projects already use.

Having a dislike button for comments is rejected, a like/love button is not

I think that would be a good idea, but the most recent comment should stay at the top.

Lately, I have been seeing some hilarious comments, and I think that people should be able to upvote them.
Same, but prevent things like 'If _____ then like the comment"

lm@o that is another example of the scratch team straight up lying, social media is the focus of scratch now and they know it
It never was, and will never be.
That being said, liking comments would be almost no different to loving projects.

Support. The normal wrokaround to this is to reply with “: )” or “: D” but then it gets really weird if that person replies back with one of these emoticons.

I don't support upvoting, but I would support liking a comment as a way of replying “I agree.” I would also support the option to pin a comment that a Scratcher put up on their own project at the top of the comments list while still allowing other people to comment about the project below that.

so maybe an “agree” button instead of a like/upvote button?

It could be used instead of spamming “cool” or “agree” on posts, but on the other hand, like mentioned above, it could lead to competition and spamming to earn more loves.

Why would someone love spam?

Spam should be reported, and there will still be people that would report it. If the default sort order is still time (but there is an option to sort by loves), I think the incentive to spam would decrease.
