However it should still have a trusted domain (org, net or us, as com is taken). scratch.fun would look shady.

In order to be elegible for .edu domain: well i have no problem with .edu, but i would prefer scratch.edu rather than scratch.mit.edu
"This means that they must be postsecondary institutions located within the United States (including U.S. territories and possessions); be licensed, chartered, or incorporated within the United States (including U.S. territories and possessions); or otherwise be officially recognized as a U.S. postsecondary institution by a U.S. state or federal government agency (including U.S. territories and possessions). If an institution is not based in the United States per this definition, it is not eligible for .edu domain name registration.“”
Thus, since the scratch foundation isn't a postsecondary institution, it cannot get its own .edu domain.

(#4)scratch already gets blocked in schools
Scratch is intended for education, if they strip “.edu” from their domain, they're gonna get blocked in schools.
They are try'na educate, y'know?
anyway, i don't think a domain change will help anybody and it'll just end up so much more confusing

I don’t think MIT owns mit.social, and if they did, why give Scratch another domain to use. Scratch.mit.edu (the editor) and scratch.mit.social (the social network part of the site, basically everything else.)

and also that would make mit.social exist.(#109)Do you even know what MIT is? Also, having two domains would require a lot of technical changes.
Scratch.mit.edu (the editor) and scratch.mit.social (the social network part of the site, basically everything else.)
I suggest moving Scratch to Scratch.pizza.
Why?
1. Already owned by Scratch Team
2. Who doesn't love pizza?
3. Easy to remember (like what's mit.edu anyway)

that's exactly what I thought. of all the site issues & suggestions they're working on why does the URL even matter? it's not like it's hard to type or something what an important change
I suggest moving Scratch to Scratch.pizza.even if you do have trouble remembering mit.edu you can just bookmark it or only look up “scratch” when you search it instead of the url

I'm not gonna sit here acting like a master web developer, but there's probably a reason that sites don't change the domain to link different parts of the site and instead use those / thingys (edit: I just googled it and they're call subdirectories) Scratch.mit.edu (the editor) and scratch.mit.social (the social network part of the site, basically everything else.)

It's .edu because it stands for education. While it may be fun to make projects in Scratch, that is not the point. change it to scratch.fun or something that isnt taken already
because .fun is a fun domain name
and on purple website starting with H it's only 0.99 euros for the first year

Scratch split off from MIT a while ago. It only makes sense to update the domain.
