Nirvana fallacy, you are comparing it to a perfect solution. It is meant to help control, not eradicate completely.

Either way, this makes a bit of sense even if I haven't seen many studios with it.

I'm complaining that it is too easy to bypass, and if it was made more broad, then that would effect innocent scratchers. It doesn't help much either way

Yes, but removing the @ is bypassing enough. It wouldn't help if someone just does the username with no @

Due to the way the filter works, it would be really hard to figure out what phrase exactly is getting blocked, making it really hard to bypass it.

That is such a niche example that banning it wouldn't even be that big of a deal. I'd argue it wouldn't even be a little deal, it would just be something some kid somewhere would roll their eyes at and then continue on with their life.
