Exactly! When did they implement DjangoBB? We really need a forums overhaul. But I’m getting off topic.
I think they added it in the beta 2.0 I think. But this is a perfect time for it to be replaced with a better one.

Then our forums are 10 years old then. The forums need an overhaul and this proposed bot could go along with it. The forums are missing features like direct image uploads, different fonts, up-to-date Scratch blocks, etc.

11 years old actually some posts are from 2012. A bot that can do specific things on the forums or link dupes from the directory could be a good idea. And a direct image upload from a drive to assets.scratch.mit.edu can be used better in a jiffy then having to use a image service. And for the blocks. Maybe it's better to just keep them to have a lil classyness. But if modern sound better we can go for 3.0 blocks.

This topic is turning into more of “Lets update the forums!” then my original suggestion.

Scratch Suggestions post duplicate/rejected idea bot

YES.
I have an idea: What if it detects if it's rejected before the post is even published? Like before you post it, it shows a warning like:
Hold on! This suggestion may have been rejected by the Official Rejected Lists of Suggestions:
8.1 Changing usernames or changing display names
If a user could change their username (or even set a certain “nickname” or “display name”), this could be very confusing for the Scratch community, especially for those following that user. In addition, this would make moderation of the website more difficult because it would be harder for the Scratch Team to keep an eye on what a user may be doing. The Scratch Team has allowed username changes only on very rare occasions, such as if the username contains personal information or causes gender dysphoria. Generally, the Scratch Team does not change usernames on request (including for reasons such as “I do not like my current username anymore”).

However, because of the way that usernames are stored on the server, changing the cases of letters in your username (for example, changing @Za-Chary to @ZA-CHARY) is NOT rejected; you can discuss it on this topic.
Please check the stickies before posting.

Going back to this idea, this would be a good alternative to prevent false positives.
Also, we don't have to make it close or report topics, just mention it. When users mention and say it's a duplicate or a rejected suggestion, most of the time the OP will abide by that and say “whoops, I'm closing this now.” So this bot could just mention it.

Yea since those were from the 2.0 alpha LOL
Also, there's no way 2012 was 11 years ago..
Also, I think it should just state that it is if implemented to prevent people from being unable to post when their suggestion isn't rejected/a duplicate of the mentioned topics, and give a warning.

Yea I wish it looked for potentially similar topics and showed you them, or that they brought back forum searching since that used to exist.

I just remember it because of the Gangnam Style craze…whoops now that song is stuck back in my head.

Something tells me we’ve wandered off the trail.

I like how it looks, but it's a bit outdated. Most of the forum websites made with DjangoBB are gone, and the DjangoBB website itself looks more broken than my phone falling down the stairs /hj

Either way, couldn't it just be possible to use some other programming language to read the posts, then combine it with any free ai like ChatGPT, bing, etc. and respond like that?

edit: just look at the website: http://djangobb.org/

especially this part:

Definitely! Getting back on topic is a great idea. Now, shouldn’t we be discussing about improvements to the AI?

Most definitely. Remember, AI is an option, not the de-facto basis for this bot. We could use the structure for the comment moderation bots, or to prevent false positives, do something like this BEFORE it gets posted. (I know this suggestion already existed For example:

No support, the ai could get confused, for example:

Lets say someone suggests something that could get mixed up with a rejected suggestion, changing users.

And he types: this is NOT changing users

The ai could get confused thinking it is changing usernames.

And good news for god sake, chatGPT is getting sued so they cant do it for scratch haha perfect timing

And there are moderators that take care of these stuff

And last point, ai arent purrfect

Semi support. The bot may be wrong.

I will full support if they added a This seems wrong… button (it reports to be re opened and tells the st to fix it), and a Thanks button.

ChatGPT horror stories dont count for the entirety of AI. ChatGPT ALSO isn’t the only AI.
