so make it bigger and the text will be highlighted in purple

Bright red is a good way to get people to divert their attention away from the text.

I think green will get scratcher's attention better. Like @Za-Chary said, red is a good way to divert attention.

I think you can see the pattern here. Another point about all these colors is that they're quite difficult to read — green and cyan especially. It's like if the text was set to yellow — more difficult to read due to bright colors and low contrast, and as a result, the stickies would actually be read less.

Maybe to make it a different color without being too overbearing, we could settle for a nice purple color instead. It seems to work pretty well for the sake of high contrast.

In my opinion that looks better than making the stickies “larger” (per the OP).

Not a fan of “Read these first,” though — I never recommend to anybody to read the entirety of all stickies before posting. Maybe it should just be titled “Stickies” instead.

Now, that is a lot of stickies to read, and Scratchers can't be expected to read all of them. So I propose that they just be called “stickies.”

I agree. It would fit more if we had “Stickies” in bold.

But would a brown sticky stand out as “Important”? Maybe desaturated purple would work instead.
