yea it used to exist, but it got removed from the discussion home because of the fact it was broken, so it was likely creating confusion, and because the Google search thing was replaced in 2016.

Pretty useful for someone who is new to the forums. Using the built in search is easier for people to find topics and prevent duplicates.

They mean kids would be able to find dupes more quickly and easily than looking them up the hard way, and the built-in search forums engine would allow a user to find duped in a whole different way rather than leaving Scratch to do so.

Support, it'd prevent a lot of dupes since it'd be easier to find answers yourself. I think adding this would make the forums feel similar to the scratch wiki, which is something I'm here for since you'd be able to search and find topics easier.

It was removed in 2016, that was an old post.

What about the others that don't use the extension? At least Scratch Team needs to make it fair for others that do not have the extension. An example is the dark mode coming soon.

Read what I said in the rename messages topic.
Also, they might have the extension blocked for whatever reason/not be able to get it (ex. if they were on a school computer or they were on a device like an iPad/iPhone).
And this actually used to exist, it got removed, as I stated above.
